OT: Rock n Roll HOF nominees

Weirdly the E Street Band is in - Bruce inducted them in 2014.

Also, didn’t realize there are different HOF categories. The E Street Band was inducted in the Musical Excellence category while Nine Inch Nails inducted in the Performers category.
Ah, I stand corrected. Bruce was inducted as a solo artist in 1999 and I remember at the time that some people felt that they should wait until the E Street Band iteration could be included. I'd forgotten -- if I ever even knew in the first place -- that E Street did eventually get in.

Was wondering why the RRHOF is so willing to induct Rap, R&B, Hip Hop, Jazz, and Blues artists but not Country. They have a few with country roots - Johnny Cash, Gene Pitney, Woodie Guthrie, Hank Williams, and Elvis - and some others, but certainly no recent or contemporary artists. I guess Country music has Nashville, but still - Dolly should be in, Garth should be in, probably a bunch of others.

Agreed - one thing I noticed from a lot of bands who started in that era is they did not last very long. I loved Placebo's first two albums but that kind of music got less popular and those bands sort of faded away.
35% of the people love Placebo and say they work for them all the time every time.

Who the F is "Fela Kuti?" I'm assuming he or she is a rap artist. It's probably impolitic and non-PC of me to express the opinion that the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame is stretching the envelope just a bit by enshrining rap artists. (Or country artists, for that matter.)

Moreover, I'm pretty sure that Fela Kuti is not Hall of Fame worthy even if we're talking about a strictly rap Hall of Fame. The Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame could take a cue from how they do things in Cooperstown. Set the bar a bit higher, or the whole thing is at risk of becoming a joke. But maybe that would be a fitting thing, given that the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame is located in Cleveland.

Racist! Racist! Racy Mcracist! Non-woke! Blah, blah, blah. Personally, I wouldn’t walk across the street to get out of the rain in the place.

Who the F is "Fela Kuti?"

Fela Anikulapo Kuti (born Olufela Olusegun Oludotun Ransome-Kuti; 15 October 1938 – 2 August 1997) was a Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, bandleader, composer, politicaly activist, and Pan-Africanist. He is regarded as the pioneer of Afrobeat, an African music genre that combines traditional Yoruba and Afro-Cuban music with funk and jazz. At the height of his popularity, he was referred to as one of Africa's most "challenging and charismatic music performers". AllMusic described him as a "musical and sociopolitical voice" of international significance.

Not really rock and roll, but I think that standard is long gone. Really should just change the name to “Musical Artist Hall of Fame” or something like that.

Looking ahead - some notable first time eligible artists in 2022....

Eminem
Fatboy Slim
Fiona Apple
Limp Bizkit
Nickelback
Spice Girls

In other words, gonna be a lot of artists inducted who have been waiting a while. Of the 2022 newly eligibles, only Fiona Apple and Eminem would get my vote (or any serious consideration at large).
Get the Guinness ready!!! Dropkick Murphys 2022!!! Flogging Molly 2023!!!

Seems a great candidate for the African Traditional Music Fall of Fame

Pretty solid list. Fela Kuti was just an amazing musician. I am personally pulling for him to get in.
