PSU - Rutgers Dual Thread

I think he just wanted to be a big fish in a small pond. Well he is definitely in a small pond now.
And after spending a year in the PSU room he is the only guy in a Rutgers room who can wrestle, all very much unlike him.

I think his Daddy really wanted him to be the big fish in any pond, was not happening at PSU with 5 returning champions all who are flashier than his son.

This referee is slow to react to everything. He allowed the Rutgers wrestler to roll his hips and damage Nolf's knee.

Rutgers wrestles so dirty and you have to look at the coaches. "Jersey tough" or punks in singlets?
You see this situation `often imagine guys get in that situation in the room weekly.Nolf is awesome wrestler and great for the sport sucks hes hurt but it didnt look like Van Brill did it intentionally

Agree. Combo of bad ref and fighting through the position

As for 149 and Lewis wrenching CJ’s knee, that’s another story

I feel bad for Nolf but truth be told, this will make him a better person & man. Adversity is a tough thing when it presents itself in the present state but it always turns out to be a blessing as you look back later in life. Yea, it sux now but how he handles & learns/grows from it moving forward will be where the benefit is. Just my opinion...again, it sux but as they say...”it is what it is”...worry and focus on things you can control.

...5 weeks 'til a Big 10 forfeit...

...7 weeks 'til the NCAAs...

... is it possible?...
As long as it is not his ACL, it is possible. Keep in mind Spencer Lee wrestled at State's last year with a torn ACL. Even with ACL's there are varying degrees of severity.

In person, it reminded me of Ed Ruth at Nationals. Looked like the leg went dead on him. The trainer didn't do much twisting of the knee, etc.

I was sitting where van brill exited the mat down the tunnel he was giving a full throated victory scream. I almost threw up I figured he he realized he got lucky. But he actually felt like he accomplished something. Very sad.

I was sitting above that area. I honestly didn’t take it that way. Look to me like he was upset ... but I could be wrong.

I would hope and give the benefit of doubt..I heard it as a victory scream of yeeaaaahhhh. Maybe I heard it wrong. I was right there. It was upsetting and my buddy ru grad heard the same

His reaction when having his hand raised was completely non celebratory. He sprinted off and looked like he was going to cry to be honest with you

And I do know people who know him .... and have heard he’s a great kid. I’d be surprised if that was his reaction

Story time, kids! Gather ‘round!

Waaaaay back when I was in high school and played fb, the next town over and our biggest rival absolutely dominated us. To the point where we never scored a point on them in my whole career. They were just outright dominate and in retrospect, probably just bullied us around physically. However, we deemed them as “dirty”.

Our HC, knowing full well that we couldn’t hang with them competitively, implemented a strategy called “poison”. We had discussed this at nauseum. When we were on offense, if the play call was “poison” as the center, I would intentionally bobble the snap, causing a pileup at the line of scrimmage in which, for those of you who know football scrums, things get dirty in a pileup.

Fortunately for my personal pride, we never used that playcall, however, after the mugging Zain received, I couldn’t help but wonder, “Did Rutgers call poison?” Then the subsequent matches and the tweet from Richie Lewis...

After giving up the 2 delucas coach was pretty pissed during the break. I doubt that happened. More like a guy that was more afraid of going uunderneath than getting DQd.

I would not be surprised if the last few weeks of practice have been very hard, schedule definitely set up that way. They have not looked sharp the last few weeks.

Expect some recovery the next few weeks, tough week before Buffalo then ease off again for post season.
Cael said on last weeks radio show w/Byers that the coaches pushed them hard this past week.

Like I said I would hope so, but I saw no tears as I could have touched him maybe I misunderstood the scream. If he won then yes of course I would have. Just reporting what I heard as he ran by me. Rutgers was definitely dirty today. I not suggesting he tried to hurt Nolf.

Just got home from match. Sickening. We came out flat. Got outhusled and then when Nolf went down my stomach turned and it ruined the rest of the afternoon.

Besides Deluca no one on Rutgers wrestled dirty. They wrestled physical and we didn’t match the intensity.

I thought we looked flat both matches this weekend.

Praying for Nolf and hoping something wakes the team up because If they wrestle like they wrestled today we in trouble

Get Kuhn on the mat and stop the baloney with 197.

You realize PSU won .... right? To say we got outhustled and didn’t match their intensity is absurd. We won 7 of the 9 matches that were completed

Give me a break. We’re all hopefully real and true fans. We praise them when they do great and also need to be honest when they look average. I was hoping after the Nolf injury we’d see some pissed off wrestlers. Nope. We settled for a couple one point wins over good but not great opponents and majored a couple backups

Usually the team has a very high level of practice intensity throughout the entire week and they are expected on Friday to wrestle through their fatigue. Then Saturday is more like a build up a sweat run through and Sunday they generally footstgomp people because they are fresh.

That is what I was expecting today. Obviously they trained hard again yesterday.

They did win both matches and nobody wrestled looking tired, but they were sluggish and lacking their quickness.

I think this is a gross exaggeration. Rutgers was jacked up, but the only match where we didn't match their intensity was 184 and maybe 133 (a strong maybe on the later).
