PSU - Rutgers Dual Thread

Was at Columbia Lock Haven so missed this. Feel sick to my stomach. Hoping for a best case scenario for Nolf.

Would likely still garner healthy point total at NCAA’s on one leg......
Should Berge be activated at 57 a la Hall at 74??? He wrestled 60 in HS didn't he? 57 does not seem all that strong. Live in Jersey and that university continually disgusts me.

Byers also gives a heads up that the Coaches Show will be on Monday night this week, as opposed to its normal Wednesday night.

Wrestlestats already showing Friery as the starter at 157. Don’t think he will be the starter, but it says they think Nolf is out. Wonder if they have any scoop or just watching TV with the rest of us.

The strategy was simple for Rutgers aggressive to dirty hand fighting, don't wrestle and hold onto a limb for dear life. That adds up to boring slow wrestling. The ref was not up to the challenge at all. What the heck is there to be happy about with that performance from a Rutgers perspective? They are exactly what makes people turn the channel. Bad for wrestling.:mad:

Jersey toughness.

I dont buy that at all.. Rutgers battled and if anything was getting out of hand, thats why the ref is there. That said, the red was a disgrace imo for not calling the PD on Nolf much earlier.

I dont know the rule with head gear that was already off an opponents head but if theres justice, no way a point awarded for incidental contact with it... it was unavoidable and once again.... ref couldve stopped that match 5-10 secs earlier to adjust headgear, but allowed match to continue

Rutgers were dirty especially the clown that wrestled Zain. Ref let it get a little out of control. Feel bad for Nolf especially when you saw the expression on his face. He knew something bad just happened to his leg.

Just watching TV with the rest of us. I didn’t make Friery the starter, but I have made updates before, like when Yanovich announced he was done wrestling, I marked him as injured.

I don’t think andregre (or whatever, sorry Andre) has inside scoops, just a great website.

How did the ref not see DeLuca's bowling grip to Zain's eyes?

Those were not incidental pokes from a stiff arm. DeLuca had has fingers curled. Deliberate eye pokes.

I think its pretty clear the ref was horrible and DeLuca was dead wrong. Thats the only incident during this match Id call dirty. The rest was hard fought

Nolf's injury was a combo of Nolf pushing the issue and the ref being incompetent disgrace not calling a PD much earlier. Just no excuse for that imo

Or move Zain up to 157 and slot Verkleeran in at 149... point potential might be better with that combo than Berge at 157. Terrible news for the Nits but if anyone can overcome this it’s Jason and the squad. Definitely took the wind out of Joseph and Bo. Cael will figure it out. This is why you recruit, recruit, and keep on recruiting. The talent is in the room. All thoughts are with Jason right now. Ones health is more important than victories.

Pie, if that's your opinion you haven't been watching the same team I've been watching.

What kind of fan are you? Come on man.

Well, the team you've been watching included Nolf, who was good for 25+ points at NCAAs, in what most expected to be a tight battle with tOSU. If Nolf can't go, PSU's chances to win go way, way down, unless you know how those points might be recovered. It's just math.

Hoping and praying Nolf only sprained his knee. Unfortunately we will now enter the same type of situation we had with that 125 lber who went to Rutgers when he got hurt ... misinformation, disinformation, speculation, athlete sightings on campus, etc. Man I was hoping we were done with all that.

Gravina wrestled harder and with more determination than Nickal, IMO. Bo was good enough to win (just barely), but not his best effort perhaps.

Edit - The one TD for Gravina was rather questionable.
suspect Bo was fighting something else... hoping he feels better before next weekend...

Correct, some other user of the site actually set his injured status and put Friery as the starter....EXACTLY how I want the site to take care of this kind of stuff...by the fans.

By the way, it's Greg, not andegre ;)

But he's kind of looked the same against Preisch and Abounader. He was winning comfortably against Top 10 guys last year. It's been a battle for him this year.

Exactly. Dorsnt help that even some of our own fans feel the need to troll with bs updates to try to prove they’re an insider

Keener didn't think he could take him down twice in the 3rd. Instead he hoped for a takedown/rideout with under 30 seconds left. Obviously, didn't work out. Not a fan of that.
Me neither and it' not logical. If you get a TD in the 1st minute of the period your chances of getting a TD in the last 30 seconds don't decrease.

Not true, RU was reveling in swinging as hard as they could in their tie ups... especially to the head.

Not sure what you do not agree with. Rutgers came out hand fighting but almost zero offensive attacks and when shot on they ankle grabbed and twisted.

As far as the head gear, the second they were no longer engaged the wrestling should have been stopped and headgear resecured.

Nate is IMO is skilled enough he can function at something like the tournament Jason Bainey had West Branch this weekend. A dual between 2 top 12 college teams has been, is and always will be out of the scope of something Nate is capable of doing.

Who even goes at 57 now assuming what it looks like happened did happen....More back up depth at 49... does Zain bump up a weight? Really sucks to see that happen and know it could have been avoided by competent reffing.
How bout bumping Verkleeren up to 57?? Berge isn't ready for that.

It's one thing to have that "this is our house" mentality, but that was a f'n disgrace for the most part. Goodale, who is nothing more than a glorified high school coach, is probably telling his wrestlers how proud of them he is right now.

Jason being the competitor that he is refused to give up position. That's no reason for PD to not be called there though. I'm sick about this match.
