Does Cael crack champagne like the 1972 Dolphins? Luke dictated the pace of that match, just made one small mistake. Needs to push more offense. He'll win that match every time going forward.
Luke will need to learn how to find his shot. Ref should have dinged Rutgers wrestler for grabbing fingers time and again.

Circling, hand fighting & head tapping to start. Davis with some fakes, but he doesn't shoot & they're back to tapping at each other's head. Davis comes forward a little, but Shawver blocks him off. Shawver loses his headgear, stoppage & restart, 1:45 left. Circling, tying up & head tapping. Davis shoots, but was way too far out & Shawver easily blocks him off. Tying up & pushing now, then they break. Not much action from either wrestler so far. Davis is down on one knee now, then back to his feet. Davis reaches for a leg, but was too far out, no luck. Shawver gets to a leg. Davis is locked around the waist & he holds on as time expires. 0-0

Davis defers. Shawver selects down. He gets to his feet & rolls, but Davis stays with him. Shawver gets to a quadpod, then to his feet. Davis pushes him to the edge & they go out of bounds, restart. Davis has 30-sec riding time. Rutgers wants a stalling call on Davis. Shawver is still down. He gets to one foot, but Davis brings him back to his knees. Shawver rolls, but Davis stays with him. Shawver gets up & rolls again, but Davis stays with him & goes over 1-min riding time. Shawver gets to his feet. Davis gets a stall warning & they go out of bounds, restart, 29-sec left. Shawver is still down. He comes up & rolls, but Davis stays with him. Shawver gets to his feet again, but can't break the grip of Davis. Davis gets a 2nd stall call & Shawver gets a point, 1-0. Turned the match into a coin flip again, gotta get more active than that. There were zero legitimate attacks from either guy until Peterson’s shot at the end.

Man, Luke really struggles to get to legs, huh? I know that’s par for the course with many of the 125 pounders- everyone is super quick and really good defensively- but I just didn’t see that coming with Luke.
