World Championships - Oct. 20-28

I think Zain is a lot more prepared to step into FS and be great right away since he has a background in it. Nolf I believe is still relatively new to FS and will take his lumps in giving up points from positioning that worked in Folk but exposes you in Free
One-Legged Jason's matches were closer to freestyle: better shot selection, more controlled scrambling, etc. And his neutral defense was basically the 1985 Chicago Bears.

That injury may turn out to be the worst thing to happen to the rest of the world.

His biggest problem is being stuck between Olympic weights.

I dont root against Russia because they are from Russia... but then my mind thinks back to the 1972 Olympics and the gold medal basketball game.. you get the idea

I was up off of my sofa with my foot moving forward when I realized I was about to put my foot through the television. That was a close call. The television. Not the game: a total screw job.

Nolf has been 157 for 4 years now.

His dad is tall w a large frame.
Big guy.

74kg is 163.

His body most likely wants to grow & he would have 14-16 months ?

If Dake goes down in weight for 2020 to challenge Borroughs, a Nolf-Dake match would be pretty interesting. Unstoppable Force meets Immovable Object. Physicists will be interested to watch the laws of nature being tested or bended.

Cox shrinkage?

That's it! If you keep posting this stuff, Ban is leaving this forum! ;) #jk #allingoodfun
I guess I'm a tad bit baffled as to why this specific post would make me leave the forum any more than any other post, but I am an idiot, so mes guessing that it's over mes head, as is everything else.

Nice to at least see that yous not consumed with me.

Could Mark Hall and Imar throw their hat in the ring for 74g in 2020 also. That will be some crazy competition.

The potential 2020 showdown of Zain-Steiber-Yanni at 65kg will be exciting.

It is not yous.....it is YOUINZ !! …...although Yuinz or Yoinz is acceptable by some bottom feeders. :) Somewhat Kidding

I'm as much of a Nolf fan as anybody but Kyle Dake just shut out the World...
With you on that. The USA process to earn a spot is grueling. Below is an April 2018 Ranking of USA Senior Freestylers. Now take the weight classes, and condense to 57kg (about 125 lbs), 65kg (143), 74kg (163), 86kg (190), 97kg (214), and 125 (275.5) for an Olympic year, and one can see the talent vying for the six spots. In two years, we'll be in an Olympic year, my early stab for top candidates to represent the USA are;

57kg: Lee, Fix, or Gilman
65kg: Retherford, Stieber, or Diakomilhalis (assumes the 61kg guys are too undersized, maybe Garrett and/or Colon are in the mix)
74kg: Burroughs, Dake, Dieringer, Martinez, Nolf (and how about Marsteller, Joseph, and a few others?)
86kg: Taylor, Cox, Nickal, Z. Valencia
97kg: Snyder
125kg: Gwiz, Steveson, plus others (Nelson, Bradley, Rey)

One can easily see the effects of the weight class compression. In 2020, there will be a lot of talent sharpening iron.

Coon and Varner could also be on that list, as they finished 2nd and 4th, respectively, in the trials. I kind of doubt Varner is in the discussion going forward, as he's small for that weight and getting up there, but wouldn't completely count him out. And Coon, though he wasn't able to do much against Gwiz, is a giant and has room for improvement.

I really wouldn't be surprised to see Cox go up and challenge Snyder. Wonder if Kirkvliet will vie for 2020 (uphill road, I acknlowledge). Agree JO has to be in the mix at 65, and McKenna did make final X this year at 65.
