London Montgomery

It bothers me how Franklin handled the Montgomery situation. Who cares if Montgomery, or any other running back for that matter puts on weight, or not as-long-as they’re getting the job done!

Montgomery looked fine in the limited action he got in the Blue/White game. Now, I can understand if he decides to transfer due to the current depth chart at running back.

However, with that being said, as-long-as he’s capable of performing who cares whether he puts on weight, or not, Frankly!

CLAW Wrestling -- Invitational coming up in June

SIAP.... but anyone else been following the Champions League of American Wrestling (CLAW) which an attempt to create an ACTUAL professional wrestling league based on a hybrid rule set fusion of "the best" of both folk/free styles.

I think the league officially kicks off next year with 6 teams at first, but on June 22-23, just over the PA border in Ashburn, VA ... they are having an invitational tournament to showcase wrestlers and the ruleset.

Team "general managers" have not yet been announced, but somewhere I read/heard that Bo Nickel had been approached (but others on this Board are usually much more "in-the-know") on matters like that.

If this is the first, you are hearing about any of this: Here's a link to the website: CLAW Wrestling

Also, curiously what others think about trying to get something like this off-the-ground?

Big shout out to BEG Wrestling for first exposing me to this league via their entertaining podcasts! :D

FB Recruiting 2025 LB commit DJ McClary talks Penn State, schedules an OV elsewhere

Penn State picked up a commitment from McClary back in September but a lot has changed since then. The Nittany Lions have a new defensive coordinator in Tom Allen, who replaced Manny Diaz when he left to take the head coaching position at Duke. Diaz did most of the heavy lifting to get McClary to commit so Allen and the other Penn State coaches have been working to rebuild those bonds. In the meantime, McClary took a visit to Syracuse earlier this offseason and they’re pushing to get him back on campus for an official visit. That is still a work in progress but McClary does have an official visit scheduled to Rutgers on May 31st. The in-state school would love to flip him away from their conference rival but the Nittany Lions also have McClary scheduled for an official visit on June 14th. Michigan is also involved and could end up with an official visit.

Draft over: Dixon and Jacobs not drafted.

Kalen King barely made it: 7th round to Green Bay at #255, 2 picks short of the last pick.

Most surprising: Caeden Wallace going so early in the 3rd round. Good for him.

Most disappointing: Kalen King without a doubt. From a potential round 2 pick at one point to this very late 7th round selection.

Happiest for: Daequan Hardy picked in the 6th round.

Spring Transfer Portal thread......

Is three a position other than WR that Franklin and his staff will actively seek players....?

QB - N0
RB - No With Martin looking like the 2nd coming of Curt Warner and Wallace and Montgomery looking talented,....no
OL - I don't see Trautwein looking outside. Four good players competing for 2 OT spots and plenty of talent inside with Cousins seeming a legit option and JB Nelson back for Fall camp
TE - No Did anyone see Cross on the field yesterday? May see a TE go to the portal
WR - YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! I look for a net -2 on scholarship by August, and that's with 1 or 2 additions from the Portal

CB - No. Harris and Kimber looked very good and very ready, and with Miller, Tracy, Washington, Collins and the 2 true freshman, plenty of talent. And were my eyes correct in that the walk on Dinkins looked pretty legit as well?
Safety - No Loaded 3 legit starters and a load of young developing talent behind them.
LB - No. Rojas, King, DeLuka, Wylie.... and some young developing players like Robinson, Jackson and particularly Keys who looked big, fast and instinctive yesterday.
DE - No. Likely the most stacked group on the team. PSU 3-6 players would start on 2/3rds of the P5 teams, and there is young developing talent behind the 3 deep.
DT - No. A very experienced group. Did anyone see enough of the 4 true freshmen DT's to comment on how they looked from an athletic, size or instincts persepective???

Special Teams - ?? Will the staff look for a walk on transfer from the Portal this spring that doesn't mind paying his own way (minus a little NIL) in order to play in front of the best home game fans in all of sports??????

Happy 200th to Beethoven's 9th. And tomorrow, Happy 50th to Eisenhower Auditorium

And Eisenhower (then University Auditorium) opened on May 8th, 1974 with the Pittsburgh Symphony and PSU Choir in Beethoven's 9th.

What I'm Looking forward to in 2024

my rambling thoughts - want to see is creativity on offence, unpredictability, getting the ball to playmakers in space. I believe the OL will be good.
They won't be able to keep QM off the field but how will he be used? hmmm.
Losing Diaz hurt the most for me on D. Not so worried about the LBers or secondary, but stuffing the run and pressuring the QB,
I'm worried about a drop off but hoping a few players step up, its DDS's time to shine.

We are!

FB Recruiting PSU in good position with 4-star OL Rowan Byrne. Has OV set

Login to view embedded media Login to view embedded media
Byrne’s spring was full of unofficial visits and now he is preparing for official visits Florida State will get Byrne for an official visit. It is currently scheduled for June 14 but he might move it to June 7. Penn State has Byrne locked in for an official visit on June 21. The Seminoles and Nittany Lions, Byrne said, are in his top tier. Texas A&M, Michigan State and Clemson could get Byrne for official visits as well but those plans are not finalized right now. Byrne wants to get to know the players at each of the programs he takes official visits to and get a feel for how he fits in there before making a decision, which should be coming in June or July.

Examining PSU recruit/player attrition rates by region

With the King Mack portal departure we were curious to figure out if Florida has had the worst miss-to-hit ratio with keeping recruits during the James Franklin era. Turns out, it doesn't, although it can be questioned whether the time and resources we've put into Florida kids recently has been worth it.
