Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Penn State versus Washington

That would suck for that kid. It was a great tackle. Not sure you can teach it any better.

After the announcers said perfect textbook tackle. I'm like really perfect textbook targeting, lead and lower the helmet into the facemask!

That has always been illegal - before they came up with all their complicated "Targetting" rules, this was a rule known as "Spearing" - a Personal Foul and dirtiest of dirty hits. Always been illegal to use crown of helmet as a weapon.

That sucks.
That seemed like seemed like a solid tackle
I didn’t see the replay

Penn State's first drive is a strong one. 9 plays, 72 yards and its capped off by a Beau Pribula touchdown.

Penn State 7
Washington 0

Too gimmicky because they ran an option and an end around?
Yeah, this is the issue with our offense when you watch other teams that will contend. Same negative feedback throughout the country
This stuff doesn't work against the Ohio States of the world
We have to get the base offense going instead of this stuff
Ohio State would have stuffed that

I like the way the Steve and Jack are openly rooting for Penn State on the radio call. Refreshing.

Remember--you need your offense to be in rhythm for it to be truly successful--great drive going then we get gimmicky once we get close to the red zone. It has to stop if we want the offense to get better so we can beat legit teams. We're beating Washington regardless.

Be nice to see the replay of the targeting. Local high school tv games have better coverage

You guys must have a different Peacock … they showed the targeting replay at least twice.

I also agree with this. While by rule, I think its targeting it was just a great hit as well

They've never taught that you lead with your helmet, head down - this has ALWAYS been illegal and used to be a 15-Yard PF Penalty called "Spearing". Your taught to keep head up and put the "Ridell" emblem (on top-middle of facemask) onto opposing players chest, wrap-up and run through. You aren't taught to put head down and drive crown of helmet into opposing players facemask - that is the dirtiest of dirty hits and always has been.

Abdul Carter the last few weeks has been insanely unblockable. Penn State fans getting to see what they missed in the COVID season when Micah Parsons opted out.
