NCAA Session 3 Thread

Smack in on a deep single, and gets the two. 2-0 Smack.

Studebaker is hurt, not looking good. Smack had him over for 4 NF and almost had him decked. Yikes. If he's OK to go back out there (and he shouldn't) then he's going to get pinned or hurt worse.

Not over Geno
I have a difficult time understanding why someone would choose the middle of Nationals to play the na na na na na game. Can't you just be happy we are leading? I am extremely happy for the chance Geno has. I feel bad for Rasheed because he tried his best to manage his weight. Since both wrestle for PSU, I support both equally.

Looks like 2 NF will be taken away. It's 4-0 Smack, and he'll choose down on injury restart.

Cement mixer by Smack. Esc. TD. And 4 NF. 11-1.

13-2 end of first. This will likely be big bonus. Either TF or Fall for Morgan.

And Morgan will win 16-4. Nice major for him. I was hoping for a TF or fall, but Studebaker proved to be a lot tougher after a dominating first period for Morgan.

McIntosh vs. Aaron Studebaker (Nebraska)

Nebraska has not had a good Session 3. Hope that continues.

Per 1
MM in on a low single, they scramble, and MM gets the TD at 2:27, 2-0. Looked to be working his bow, and injury TO for Studebaker. You could hear Aaron call out. 4 NF for Scratch, 6-0. Now the kNU giving the ref grief. Good lord. Now a discussion at the table. And a challenge. Really didn't see anything there to challenge. Challenge is that MM grabbed the headgear of Studebaker, so they're going to video review. MM with the head wrap to protect the stitches. Refs are changing the NF to 2, so it's 4-0. MM chose down for the restart. Studebaker throws in the boots and has a cross body ride. MM with an esc and then a TD, and he's getting swipes. Studebaker rolls out, but it's 11-0. Studebaker out at 1:08 left, 11-1. MM in o a low single, and he gets the TD, 13-1 at 40 sec. He cuts him at 24 sec, 13-2. MM reaches, nothing. End. RT at 46 for MM.

Per 2
Studebaker takes down. Not much movement off the whistle. Morgan figure 4s the right leg, and is trying for another tilt. Nothing. but then with a half he rolls him over, but no swipes, so MM cuts him at 1:15, 13-3. 30 sec left. MM reaches, nothing. End. RT at 1:29 for McIntosh.

Per 3
McIntosh takes down. MM up and turns in, he has Studebaker's leg, but control still to Studebaker. RT goes under 1 min. MM trying to come out from behind and he gets the reversal, 15-3 at 1:11 left. OOB with 1:01. RT at 1:02 and MM cuts him, 15-4. 30 sec to go. MM reaches, Stude sprawls, nothing. End. With RT, it's a 16-4 win. Thought MM would get the TF, but it didn't happen.

He'll take on Burak (Iowa) in the semis

So the guys in consolations will wrestle again this session??? I think that's what the announcers were saying.

Not exactly. If you dropped into the consolations from yesterday, and won today's consolation match, then you have one more consolation match in this session. If you just dropped into consolations, like Conaway, you don't wrestle a consolation match until this evening.

So Morelli will have one more match in this session??? The rest this evening.

Jimmy wrestles Gross of South Dakota State and Morelli wrestles McFadden from VTech.

Snyder and Gwiz both advanced. I think Gwiz wrestles Coon and Snyder wrestles Walz next.

I support Coach Sanderson's decision and believe the outcomes in this "Tournament" setting very much vindicate Coach Sanderson's decision relative to what we saw from SR in the NLO, the Scuffle and the US Collegiate Championship "Tournament" settings (as well as the 3rd period of many single match duals). Geno clearly had the "higher ceiling" in a tournament setting and has proved it very clearly at Nationals where he is now 3-1 and two wins away from AA.

And Morgan will win 16-4. Nice major for him. I was hoping for a TF or fall, but Studebaker proved to be a lot tougher after a dominating first period for Morgan.

Yea, Studebaker proved to be a "tough staller" for the entire 2nd and 3rd periods.....too funny and ridiculous that the official only called one SW for 4 minutes of nothing but flopping around.

Jimmy and Geno are in Consolation R3. They will stage Consy R3 on 8 mats.

It should go by pretty quick. Another match to watch will be Beckman of Lehigh vs. Martinez of Air Force. The winner will wrestle Jordan tonight. Beckman has been wrestling well this tournament outside of running into the buzzsaw that is Nashon Garrett. If Jimmy wins he will wrestle Chisko tonight. If Morelli wins he will wrestle Weatherman of ISU.

Penn State Pat tweets that PSU went 5-1 in the quarters, and got bonus in 4 of the wins. Not a bad performance. JC was the only PSUer to lose in the quarters, and he really worked hard -- enough to win most matches. Brewer really was good at grabbing 1 of JC's ankles whenever JC got in on a leg.

He'll take on Burak (Iowa) in the semis

More bush-league crap from another shameless b1g douche coach - please do tell what on earth is "illegal" about a "turk and cross body claw" pinning combo? This has to be the most absurd and bull$hit challenge ever! Then UNL's wrestler stalls for the final 4 minutes of the match after being completely dominated and nearly pinned twice in the first period.....and all the absurd "pro Iowa" Burak announcers keep saying is the McIntosh does not have a lot of offense????????????????????? Burak is the most passive, defensive, zero-offense, counter-only bull$hit "folkstyle" wrestler I have ever seen and these lame@ss "pro-Iowa" announcers keep saying it was Smack's fault that more points weren't scored in the B1G Final when the absurd b1g officials which promoted I-Mar's bull$hit wrestling refused to make Burak wrestle???? Smack is in fact the only party that shot in neutral in the B1G finals and the only person who ultimately recorded a TD (Smack shot repeatedly and Burak never matched his attacks in neutral yet was NEVER DINGED FOR A STALL -- go figure?!?!). How the Iowa-Homer announcers can praise Burak and criticize Smack at the same time sounds very familiar to their bull$hit in regards to Mega!! Unreal.
