Next year?

No riding time without an offensive point..
I'm strongly of the opinion that stalling just needs to be called with more emphasis and more regularity. And anytime someone mentions removing ALL riding time, I disagree. But THIS is a very interesting idea!

Or, simply, go back to the rules from the 70s. Three one minute periods, sort of a mini-match. No "sudden death". Have a panel of three judges matside who, in the event of a tie, pick the wrestler who was more aggressive and/or carried the action over the 10 minutes.
I'm way too young to know anything about that.

For those who do, were these panels generally considered fair and accurate?

I swear that psugo acts as if someone pays him $20 every time Howard comes up on the board and he post, definitively, that he is done.
I think the standard reply to him should be: "Eight scoring wrestlers", and that's all. Just those three words.

And may Howard then come here and take a victory lap at Guns' expense.

PS: Robbie, nobody here believes him either.
Official bet: Howard makes it through the season into the ncaa tournament and I stop posting. He gets injured though and cannot finish, then Johnstown, Jeffrey and 82 Bordeaux stop posting. Money where your mouth is...

Generally, but as with anything that based in subjectivity sometimes the end result could be controversial. Many people believe 3 time champ Lee Kemp got hosed in a referee's decision his freshman year against Iowa's eventual 2 time champ Chuck Yagla.

I believe that but I'm not sure Drake speaks very highly of Spencer regularly if his moms first thought was trashing Spencer after that. That being said, it's not about Spencer and Drake, the concern more is Drake apparently aggravated his shoulder again ... not unlike Robbie Howard. Feel for the kid, he is a super special talent

Clearly, Murin not only leads by example but leads with his face ... I don't know if I've ever seen a wrestler who looks worse after every tournament!

What makes everyone think that being a great wrestler equals being a great coach? From my far away eyes Spencer does not appear to have the goods to coach. Very fragile mentally. It could work at Iowa where he has achieved deity status, but would most likely continue with the same Iowa style as TnT.
you mean the brands brothers arent LOL I would say Spencer will be the next head coach!

Spencer is actrually worse. The meth munks don't have a quit button.

I agree with this. I think it’s a byproduct of not having a professional league (that isn’t fake anyway). In other sports, the kids want to go pro at 19 or 20. In wrestling, there is no “pro” So they extend their college eligibility to 24 or 25. It’s not good for the sport.

With that said, I doubt Fix will return. His dream of being a 5-time runner-up are gone, LOL. His 7th or 8th year or whatever it is will go about as well as Micic’s did.
Okie state has become a shit show…..he should portal to psu for his final season and get a title…wishful thinking I guess

Considering Fix's dad was Smith's college teammate and is on the RTC board, any departure would be shocking.

I don't want to start a new thread, so I'll post my idea here.

RULE CHANGES FOR 2024 ??

One thing that irked me to no end is how this tie breaker rideout / stallout period was playing out in both B1Gs & NCAA tourney.

I don't mind the stall out for wrestlebacks or duals, but there seems to be both (1) an element of luck with the toss and (2) some gamesmanship with riding / stalling / ride for 5 seconds and drive out-of-bounds / having 2nd choice.

My 2024 Rule Change: While in the championship bracket, if no winner occurs after 2:00 sudden death, let the wrestlers keep wrestling 2:00 sudden death periods from a neutral start.

Let the OT go for ten 2:00 periods if it has to be. It is a more pure method of determining the winner than flipping a disk.
My suggestion is that the first person to score a point gets the decision in the 2nd period and the rideout. I think it would encourage scoring if you have a particular weakness and do not have a decision. If scoreless after 1 then a wrestler would be more likely to take bottom starting the 2nd to get the point.

Indefinite OT periods will never happen. The Suriano-Fix NCAA final was bad enough -- nobody wants to see their 26-minute HS match. Not any fans, definitely no TV executives or tournament organizers -- and pity the poor guys at the next weight needing keep warming up.

The current system generally seems to be working well. The one change I'd make is extending the rideout periods to 1 min each -- then they would no longer be stall-outs.

Just a thought. If the Okie St alums who want a top change get their wish and Smith were to be replaced, loyalty is out the door. Considering Fix wants a title and OSU definitely offers him not a single path to beating Vito, a Happy Valley visit might be warranted. That isn't to say Cael, Cody, Casey and the rest are going to come up with a successful plan for Vito, but the chances are much greater.

Fix isn’t going anywhere. I bet he just focuses full time on freestyle now. If we are talking about poaching guys then why not steal the guy Iowa wants and try to get Bouzakis? He fits at 133 and has 4 years of eligibility. I don’t really think he leaves Ohio State but it seems like there is some talk out there. Just really don’t want him going to Iowa. At Iowa he would have to beat out Teske and Shriever while next year at PSU it’s wide open. If him coming hinders the ability to sign Lilledahl though I want no part of it. Lilledahl is probably the 1 kid I really hope comes right now

Because he already got wind of the rumors this morning and completely shut them down.

I just read that on the other thread. I’m glad Bouzakis came out and said he’s a buckeye. Makes Gobblin look like the fool that he is and myself as well for putting any stock in what he says
It is kind of tough to anticipate portal transfers. First, our staff actually waits until a guy is in the portal to call. Other schools have recruiting parents calling kids checking on their health and offering meetings with head coaches.
