PSU - Iowa 2020 Dual Thread

I keep thinking about how disappointing Hall’s effort turned out to be. It’s one thing to lose but to wrestle that passively was so frustrating. The formula to beat Iowa is to keep coming forward and applying constant pressure like Cenzo and Brooks did so well. That was the meet there. Sucks because we had them.

Let me just say how refreshing it is to watch active heavyweights. Fun scramble by Cass and Snacks in the first. The boys battled and if not for 3 starters out due to injury, PSU walks away with the W. Tip my cap to Kem, great match for him, and great battle by Marinelli. Fun match all around, proud of the boys and thankful to be a PSU fan.

Right. With holes at 125, 149 and 157, burning another shirt is a waste.

Everything hinges on Berge coming back. If he comes back we can drop Piper down and get points from two weights. We have proved repeatedly we can win national championships with no contribution from our 125.

That was some of the worst strategy I’ve seen. You cannot win with a ride out. You are not going to turn him. You cut him right away. Optional start and get him away.

285: #16 Seth Nevills (Snacks) vs. #3 Tony Cassioppi (TC for this write-up)

Per 1
Stoppage for inter-locked fingers. TC in on a single, Nevills with a whizzer and he gets the leg and elevates it, having trouble tripping him, nearly does, but TC powers thru and gets the TD, 0-2. Wow. Near the edge. Snacks is flattened, with 1 min left. Stall warning on Snacks. TC working a bar, but Snacks clears it. End. RT @ 1:42 for TC

Per 2
Snacks takes neutral, I think. Yes, he did. 1 min left, and no real shots. TC with a semi-shot, nothing. 30 sec left. End. Really no shots by either guy. RT @ 1:42 for TC

Per 3
TC takes down. Not a lot, then he's suddenly up and out, 0-3. Then TC slips behind and trips Snacks down for the TD, 0-5. Stall warning on TC so a stoppage. Seth up but back down after the restart. 30 sec left, and Snacks not doing much. Stall call on Snacks makes in 0-7. Snacks works up, but can't get out before the buzzer. TC with 3:08 in RT.

19-17, Iowa

Iowa lead after the 1st bout. PSU took the lead after the 2nd match, and lead through the end of the 9th match. Iowa re-took the lead after the 10th and final match.

Nice job by both teams. A fun evening for the fans of both programs.

Well we won but Gibbons is right.

It won't be easy gor the Hawkeyes in late March. Especially if DeSanto is hurt bad and Assad doesn't AA
