From USA Wrestling on his round 1 opponent: "His first-round opponent is Murat Dzhakupov of Kazakhstan, who was a silver medalist at the 2023 Stepan Sargsyan Tournament on the Senior level"
If he gets the Iranian that is the U20 74kg champ who beat Lockett in the Finals 3-3. His only 2024 loss is Zhamalov (that I can find)
Takahashi from Japan is legit however he could beat Reza, he was 2024 senior Asians 74kg champ and took 3rd at 2022 70kg U23s worlds with only loss coming to baby Yaz
Overall, the second match for Mess will likely be his toughest on that side of the bracket. Both guys are really good but I favor MM in both
Gadzhiev on other side is good, he took 3rd at 2024 Zagreb, beating Quincy Monday and losing to Abouzaripa from Iran (Who Takahasi beat at Senior Asians). He was also a 2022 u20 world champ at 70kg
The Russian Khaniev is a mystery but he won U23 Russian Nationals so I am sure he is solid
For his semi: Asluev took 3rd at 2023 Senior Asians (Went 0-1 at senior worlds). He also has a past really close match with Gadzhiev.
Batsukh took 4th at 2024 U23 Asians and Chkhitunidze took 3rd at 2024 U23 Euros only losing to Gadzhiev. He was 5th at 2022 74kg U20s (where he also lost to Gadzhiev. I would expect the other quarter to be Asluev vs Chkhi and that one of those will be MMs semi opponent.

Also just fully dawned on me that one of Takahasi, MM and Reza will go 0-1 in this tournament with the way the draw came out. Just Brutal.
The guy people might be sleeping on the other side is Orozobek Toktomambetov. He won U23 Asians, Beat Jaideep at OG Qualifier and lost 3-1 to Chamizo at Last Chance. He lost on criteria to Zapf at last years U23s. He took 3rd at 2023 Senior Asians (70kg)
I think whoever wins in r16 between Orozobek and Gadzhiev will face Khaniev in semis and MM's final opponent would be one of those three.

I like MM side of the bracket much better. Takahashi and Reza are both really good but I definitely favor Mesenbrink. We saw what he did to Lockett and Lockett gave Reza a super tough match. He wrestles a hard pace so not sure MM will break him but it’s possible. I actually think Takahashi beats Reza though and will be a tough test for MM but one I absolutely think he wins. On the other side I really think highly of Gadzhiev. Super tough to score on and has a championship pedigree. Orozobek and Khaniev could make the final as well. Harutyunyan and Ciftci are good as well. I definitely think the top side is deeper but the bottom has 3 of the best guys. 2 of them meet first round though. I think MM wins it all with a tough second match and tough final

Much tougher than expected. Great defense from MM. thought he was td twice but he scrambled out and gave up no points. Will have to wrestle better to beat Takahashi though
Don’t k ow anything about these other countries wrestlers, but that dude Mitch wrestled was tough. Game opponent and nice match

Dude had a real crafty counter when mitchell was working for the finish. Worked the first time, but not quite the second. He was saved by a quick whistle a few times though.
Takahashi has looked really good. He bet Reza (IRI) 11-3 & tech'd Fulmer (AUS) 10-0. This should be a great challenge for Mitch. Takahashi appears to be pretty aggressive on offense too, so this match could be like two tornadoes colliding.
Mitch will be on Mat B. He's about 6 matches out, so he should be up again in 30-40 minutes.

Does anyone know what "CP" means on this results page?
I infer "CP" is the amount of points the losing competitor scored (as "TP" is the victor's score).
I don't know what the abbreviation stands for (if that is the intent of your question). I did a couple searches to no avail.
If you look at MM's score, you see Mitch has 7 in the TP column and Murat has 2 in the TP column. The final score was 7-2, so I'm guessing TP means total points. No idea what CP means, and I also failed on an internet search.

For those of you who didn't know "Takahashi" is Japanese for DeSanto.
Freestyle is stupid, why would anybody want to get rid of the best event in wrestling and replace the NCAAs with a farce like this?
