Walsh Ironman

I think he woke up with a hangover and is coming to grips with his poor behavior. Perhaps it will sink in to his skull, but more than likely it will be no dice.

i think he got the hammer, if you search by username his does not come up at all.

and deservedly so, his spamming just to troll someone should be a violation of forum rules.

Grip is bragging on HR that he got martyred for calling out Dice. Go figure, no mention of his obnoxiously stalking Dice on every active thread, regardless of whether or not Dice ever commented on each thread.

Maybe one of the Hawks who were here yesterday will straighten out the record over there. After all, Grip said that boards should police their own ... right?

But don't worry, he'll be back in a few months when the mods let their guard down!

Good riddance.

I think the guy on top in this scene was another college wrestler (an NCAA finalist, no less) who wrestled from a knee pretty frequently.

Slushhead, can you tell me who the two wrestlers are? Just curious. Thanks in advance.

Like there wont be a herd of Lion fans already over there trying to straighten him out? Why would it be an Iowa fans job on HR to police what Grip said over here on BWI?

I don't know...maybe for "truth justice and the American way." But go ahead and ignore him spreading lies, that is the norm over there anyhow.

Not to police what he said here. To police him lying about it there.

You're smart enough to know the difference. I think.

Because it's the honourable thing to do not to mention integrity

No Grip since yesterday, is he gone for good?

Saw you made mention of me over there Turk.

Hey, you want to be a Hero over there? How about I agree to permanently stay off your board as long as you stay off of BWI. Maybe they can even give you a special sig or something recognizing you as the one to finally get rid of me.

This can not be allowed to happen.

Deep down they appreciate you over there JTS. They just cant admit it.

Turk over here reminds why people save animals from the no kill shelter. So I feel good about it.

As for gripp Im pretty sure he always wanted to get banned from here, if he was to be honest.

They think I go there just to start trouble because they are Hawkeye fans but that's really not the case. It's what they say...not who they are.

Look, it's no secret I"ve had a very trying year. The worst of my life to be honest. Fans have reached out but there is one in particular that has really helped me get through things these past 10 months. I've never met him out in the real world, he's not a PSU fan and I'm sure he doesnt agree with me much when it comes to the sport. He's a Hawk fan. First knew of him over on HR. We think this wrestling stuff is important but in the big scheme of things it really isn't. Important is having a Hawk fan reach out to me months and months later to make sure that I'm ok. And doing it on days that I really needed him to.

Going over there now is pretty much just a game to me....a release from the thoughts in my mind. I never really mean any harm but I do admit I like to defend Cael, PSU and its athletes. JEFE pointed out many times they don't need anyone to defend them and he's certainly right but sometimes I just cant help myself. I do stress though....it's never to cause harm even though at times I can go a bit overboard.

I have yet to see you over there call out one poster in every active thread for not commenting on each thread.

Perhaps you should try that technique and then tell us a half-truth about how it went.

C'mon Grip... you can't call Dice an idiot. You know better. If you've read his post he is very consistent at being right and also with great info.
I get the statement made about winning without a wide open style... you're losing your grip when you point that out based on observation or commentary one match (a kid wrestles).

nice play on words

The problem over there really is nobody polices themselves. I was policed on the HR board by a BWI member. How's that for irony. And I have always respected those who brought me back to the light. I agree it's easy getting caught in the moment over there trying to set things right. The only problem is the facts don't matter to a lot of their posters. They don't want a discussion they want to tell you how it is and you agree. Anyhow just my insight. I though grip made a slight move to the good there for a little bit then went ape on dice which was uncalled for.

It's funny, they believe they're the big kids on the block yet haven't won anything in years. Last I checked, you do have to win on the mat first.

Lugo? Lugo pushes and pushes, but I don't believe I see him looking around for the stall call. I don't even recall him edge wrestling and continously pushing opponents OOB so the Twins can scream the Iowa mantra. Too much time at Edinboro I suppose.
DeSanto, despite his obvious talent and motor has been known when in a tight match against someone of equal or superior talent to push, push and look for a stall.
Of course Marinelli in his QF loss to Lewis spent time looking for a stall call.
Sammy spent a career pushing and looking.
Before the year is finished when the going gets tough the Iowa style will manifest itself in most Hawks.
Are you really still pushing this BS? Marinelli initiated all the action in that match and is one of the most aggressive wrestlers in the country. You just look stupid every time you say that.

Have you not learned anything from this thread. First and foremost no name calling were all adults here. Second, it's just an opinion everyone has one and is allowed to believe what they want. Agree to disagree it doesn't hurt I promise

Steelers halftime gave me the time to rewatch. Marinelli definitely initiated action for most of the match. Link below and as a bonus, Cenzo's clutch match against White is also included:

Dude, I get you aren't all that sharp, but let explain it to you. Ger someone to read it to you.
Marinelli is a pretty aggressive wrestler and in the QF loss to the Lewis kid Marinelli took a couple real shot, a couple half shots and the winning takedown was earned off one of those reach in shots. With that all said, Marinelli was still wrestling looking for a stall call. Whether he was or wasn't isn't even a debatable point.

While I agree that Marinelli may have "thought" there should be a stall call, I don't see him "wrestling" for a stall call. Lewis never initiated anything. Every move was off of Marinelli doing something right up to the end. Marinelli was getting a bit frustrated with Lewis strategy (doing nothing) it seemed to me. Lewis knew if he mixed it up with the Bull, he would lose. Good strategy. Bull likely learned a mental lesson there.

I think we got spoiled with Zain, Nolf, and Bo being able to take it to even the best, and always being able to get a takedown and work their game, even when someone played defense. As good as Cenzo and Hall are, they also sometimes have to change their strategy. (The aforementioned three never seemed to have to). Just because someone wrestles a different strategy and is not as offensive sometimes, doesn't mean he has no offense (HR likes to say that about Mark which is so funny). They wrestle to their strengths and their opponents strategy.

To me, Marinelli is always attacking or looking to attack, but the fact that he isn't Nolf or Bo is not a knock on him. His talents dictate his wrestling style and results as far as I see. He is already a 2 time AA and likely 4 time, so while not an all time top 10 great, pretty darn good to me. I will also add that I enjoy watching him.

It's absolutely debatable. Turn your Hawkeye hate off and watch the match again. Marinelli didn't wrestle the match just to look for a stall call. Clearly he wanted to score. That's not always easy to do against a world Champion opponent. Just ask Cenzo

Why is this still being discussed in the Ironman topic, or at all. Sigh.

Would have loved for this to be about the results of the tournament.

I liked Beau's response to his loss. I think that he's going to have a great rest of the year and am pumped for him to come aboard. That being said. The Tal Shahar kid wrestled really tough.

The point of the post, initially and in this thread is he wrestled for a stall call.

In the second period, twice Marinelli is looking at the ref for that stall call. Not, it looked like maybe he wanted a stall call. Twice, instead of wrestling to score he was looking for that ref intervention.
The kid wrestles hard, I have never said he doesn't. Whether or not he wrestles hard isn't the point of contention. Sorry that is too hard for you and your fellow hawkers to follow.

I've had this debate with you before. To say he was "wrestling for a stall call" because he looks at the ref as he gets run out of bounds (obvious stalling) is ridiculous. You could find a clip of every PSU wrestler doing the same thing.

You made a claim based on emotion and hatred for Iowa. Tons of posters, including Penn State fans, pointed out that your claim is unbelievably stupid. Now you're doubling down with the only thing you could find: two brief looks at the ref as Lewis runs him out of bounds on top, all while Marinelli is still working hard to escape. And you're somehow extrapolating that to the full 7 minute match where Marinelli fired off tons of attacks. Just stop.

Tal Shahar and McNeil both look like studs at the next level. Bartlett as well. Would have liked to see more action from BB in the first period to avoid the 1 move/1 mistake fate. Anyone know a guy who can get wrestlers to open up their offense?

Yeah, it's funny though since BB HAS opened it up before. Just watch his Van Ness match. So it's clear he's able to, but maybe Tal Shahar's defense is that good. Regardless, I think he'll be fine.
