Yasar Dogu (Turkey) this weekend (July 27-29) - US team going

Apparently, broadcasting a single DT match this weekend was too much for the UWW. You can choose to believe that he pinned four opponents on his way to gold but there's no documentary evidence of it so you'll have to trust eyewitness accounts on Twitter.
"Moon landing" was staged.
9-11 was an inside job.
David Taylor "pinned" 4 opponents.

I've not been following FS for decades but can't imagine there's many instances, if any at all, of a wrestler pinning his way through the field of a tournament on this level. Pins are so rare in FS to begin with, but pinning multiple ranked guys is just fairy tale stuff.

Really tough to see the 4 Chamizo points at the edge due to a less than optimal camera angle. But Burroughs had already wasted his brick in the first, which looked like a bad decision even at the time, and worse after that.
Here's video. I don't see how that's four. Looked like it might not even be 2 depending on where they went out.

I thought it was 1 for a reversal which is what they originally awarded. Hard to see but it doesn't look like Jordan's shoulders are even close to 90 degrees but the review was done in only a few seconds so color me confused.

Very exciting to see DT finally get his shot on the International Stage. Really seems like he is peaking and doing things that are virtually unheard of at this level. Hoping to see him go on a multiple year World Medal run.

Gilman also seems to be real deal. I didn't know what to make of his run to World Silver last year and thought he might be a one and done type career but he may be around as a medal contender for the long haul. Will be interesting see how things work out when Spencer Lee enters the mix along with an improving Fix.

I'm remaining hopeful someone somewhere has archived footage of DTs matches this weekend. Maybe they just recorded the stream at the home office and there's none? That'd be pretty bad, and worse than anything Flo has done. You think free is hard to argue with, but working is always good too.

I get the warnings to the contrary--I agree Yazdani is pretty much same level as DT, but:
There used to be multiple competitors on the same level as DT. Then DT added world class horsepower to his power assembly. Nobody is catching David in the next two years. If David wanted to compete for the next 2 Olympic cycles, catching him would be possible only if he lightened his training load. With his technique skill set and his now freakish horsepower strength he is now that far ahead of the field.

Trying to be 100% neutral here:

DT pinned Yazdani. Yes.
But when you go back to watch the match ..... a fresh Yazdani gave DT all he wanted in the first period.

Several push outs plus 2 cautions.
DT was struggling.
DT could not get to his attacks.
Luckily, DT was only down 0-3, and DT hit a nice TD on the edge as the first half ended.

DT completely owned the 2nd and ended up sticking a gassed Yazdani.

Remember - Yazdani was also making that jump from 74 to 86, so maybe his gas tank was questionable.

Not taking anything away from DT, because he still pinned an Olympic champ in his home country.

——

DT v Yazdani. I hope we see it.
It’s gonna be lit.
DT seems to be peaking.
DT might have to weather the initial onslaught & wear him out again.

Also - don’t sleep on the Russian @ 86kg (and their team pharmacist)

My take on the yazdani match was Yaz expended a ton of energy trying to use horsepower pushing Taylor to the edge and OB. Problem was he was dealing with a much stronger than previous Taylor models and wore his ass out.

I do not see even the biggest, baddest dudes pushing Taylor anywhere, the horsepower Taylor possesses now allows him to wrestle at his preferred pace without gas tank issues related to getting past strong dudes hands or stuck underneath them.

Taylor is now in freak territory.

That's a smart take--DT may not have seen the best version of Yazdani that day, but going the other way, that match was 18 months ago and DT has jumped a level since then. At 86kg DT has gone from relying on finesse to pushing and dictating pace.

Definitely.

In 2018, DT has stepped up a level.
Aside from the close matches vs the Cuban, DT has been mauling everyone.

Anyone have any vid of the DT matches they can post?
They don't appear to exist. I know there were problems with the stream all day yesterday so I'm not even sure anyone saw the three Friday matches live, but they definitely don't exist on Track's site now. And today's mat B stream went down and no one there had the common sense to turn one of the mat A or C cameras to mat B.

The Taylor tapes will surface on the Russian black market. The Kremlin will be involved but deny they have the goods. The Iranians will offer two Yazdani tapes for one Sadulaev and one Taylor video. The Taylor tape will turn out only to be a Cael ankle-pick gif with a unicorn running in the background across a field of sunflowers. Recriminations will fly. And everyone will blame T.R. Foley for brokering a socialist-leaning deal. NATO will be put on high alert when the UWW threatens to interfere with FLO streaming. The Olympic Committee will be alarmed and decide to replace all wrestling weights at Tokyo 2020 with competitive Tiddliwinks and pie-eating contests.

The Yazdani match reminded me of Nolf vs iMar I. A bully hasn’t faced anyone he couldn’t break in a long time, and underestimates the strength of the competition. A tactical shift worked for iMar, curious if Yaz takes a more measured early match. Agree Taylor has jumped levels. Hope it happens.

For those keeping track, it has now been one day since TR Foley failed to provide us with the Taylor videos

I keep checking UWW's youtube for more videos--they usually have everything archived eventually. No dice.

However, out of frustration, I just re-watched some of DT's Pan Am matches. This one really struck me.

It kind of looks like the Dominican was up two weight classes. Next to DT, he looked like James Green. He was quick and spastic, DT decides to use the horsepower advantage, and quickly ends it. But what gives with the HUGE size discrepancy here?
