I’m ENVIOUS!

But no poster on the wall of Kasak’s fist pump while holding Teemer? Not how a true super fan would’ve handled it.

Here are our totals after session two

Last year after Session II
1: PENN STATE - 34.5
2: Iowa - 24.5
2: Iowa State - 24.5

Two years ago after Session II
1: PENN STATE – 26.0
2: Iowa – 21.5
3: Three-way tie for third

Three years ago
1: PENN STATE 27.5
2: Arizona State 22.0
3: North Carolina State 21.5

I don't get the Kerk panic. He dominated that guy and chose top because he knew he could turn him. He's a wrestler, it's a long season so he's not 100% but neither is anybody else. On his worst day he wipes the mat with everybody in this field not named Steveson or Hendrickson and he probably still beats Hendrickson.

Watching Teemer struggle made me think. I believe Iowa's solution is keep the Brands in charge of training, especially the shoulders. They need to get Cory Clark involved as the teaching coach. Clark obviously figured out how to succeed while wearing the Iowa shoulder brace.

165- R32 - #4 Terrell Barraclough (UVU) vs. #29 Derek Fields (NCST)

Period 1:
Here we go! Circling & tying up. Bearclaw pressures forward. Bearclaw with some heavy snaps & is working a front headlock. Stalemate & restart. Bearclaw pushes forward again. Fields tries a throw by & they go out of bounds, neutral restart, no scoring. Bearclaw presses forward again & has Fields on the edge. Bearclaw locks up a cradle & takes Fields to his back. He gets the TD, 3-0 & 4 NF, 7-0. Out of bounds & restart. Fields is still down. Bearclaw is riding heavy. Fields is struggling to get off his base. Bearclaw looks for another cradle, but can't lock it up. Fields stands & Bearclaw throws in a leg, then takes him back to the mat & gets Fields bellied out. Bearclaw goes over 1-min RT & rides out the period. 7-0 Bearclaw, +1:16 RT

Period 2:
Bearclaw takes down. He gets to his feet, but Fields takes him back down. Bearclaw keeps working & gets a reversal, 9-0. Bearclaw is riding tough again. Fields gets a stall warning. Bearclaw is just suffocating Fields from top. Fields sits up, but Bearclaw rolls him back to his base & locks up a cradle, but can't finish it. Fields gets a 2nd stall call, 10-0. Bearclaw rides out the period. 10-0 Bearclaw, plus a boatload of riding time.

Period 3:
Fields takes neutral. Bearclaw presses forward & drives Fields out of bounds, restart. Bearclaw presses forward again & Fields gets another stall call backing out, 11-0. Fields shoots & gets a leg, but Bearclaw sprawls back hard & fights him off. Stalemate & restart. Bearclaw drops in on a leg & quickly finishes off the TD, 14-0. Bearclaw rides out the period & adds a RT point for the 15-0 Techfall!

Terrell Barraclough TECH Derek Fields 15-0 (7:00)
I just like how no one even tries to spell his name properly, because bear claw is just so much better

Maybe they just need to reinstate the reward system where an Iowa wrestler gets to toss one of the Brands bros after a big win at nationals? Incentivize those boys to try harder for heaven’s sake.

Bonus Points
Good Guys 14
Okay State 7.5
Meatchicken 7.0
Nebraska 5.5
Ohio State 5.5

10. Iowa 3.5
So a week or so ago, I posted records against first three round hypothetical opponents id guys wrestled to seed. In the first round of that exercise, only 2-3 guys of the 10 matchups had history with opponents, and I think there were two matches That had bonus point results.

Heavy favorites at all weight classes except 133. Munoz could be tough at 197.

It's my VERY old handle....from way back to the early days of Blue White Illustrated (McAndrew board), when it was on the Plotit site. 'In Joe We Trust'.
What a great handle. Reminds me of back in the dark ages when my Dad assured me that Old Joe would turn things around, just trust him, and lo, 2005 followed.

There is not a single day where I don't think of that man and how grateful I am to have been a part of his football even as a fan. I know he would have been proud, immensely proud, of what Cael has done at Penn State. Just take a moment to be thankful for what we have. It's a beautiful day in PA!

That was easily the funniest thing I've ever seen in wrestling. Clark, whom I always really liked, looked deeply reluctant to toss Terry. I still remember how funny it was watching Terry act like such a ****ing IDIOT. 🤣

Penn State had 24 points after session 1. If the math is right, 97 Iowa would have had 20.5 (by 2025 scoring) after 1.

I've said this before but Gable's Iowa teams back then would have been competitive with the more recent Penn State teams. The more recent Iowa teams can't cut the mustard.

I'll be perfectly happy if PSU ends up with 10 All Americans and they don't break the record. I have to admit that I'm a bit concerned about Kerk and even Barr. I would presume that barring something biblical happening, we could still win even if those two are really hurt, but it's going to be hard to break the all-time scoring record again if anyone falls far short of their seeds (unless we continue to tech-fall or pin everyone, but that becomes less likely in each round obviously).

How confident are you that all 10 PSU guys make the quarters?

I'm 20% sure they will. Davis/Brown will be a tough one and Munoz is a real test for Barr and his hamstring.
