Jax Forrest thread

Been waiting for months for the good news here. It’s killing me.

Oh yes, the obligatory, “I heard Jax is beating Nico in the room…”
It is amazing how such a goofy quote has thrived for nearly eight years here. Spyker sure was able to milk his fifteen minutes of fame out of that one! It just reminds me that I have been hanging out here for a long time now!

Is it a greater insult that his thread is on page 2, or that his name is misspelled?
if we lose Jax, it'll probably be because you insulted Jax on this website. I don't think there could be any other reason for us not getting him.

Interesting which programs are not on the list: UPJ, Ivy Leagues, ACC schools outside of ones in NC

He should pass that list on to Bo, likely accurate to 90%+, cut to the chase.

10 schools is still a bit silly IMO

This is pretty cool. I like it’s good these wrestlers are having fun with it. I am sure most of us on this board never had that many schools wanting us. For Jax I would say between Ok State, PSU, NC, Ohio state and it looks like he enjoyed Michigan. I would add them too
Ok State would be my prediction

10 schools just means he is trying to keep his options open. Probably the 10 schools he is going to make visits to and then cut it down form there. None of the schools on the list are entirely unreasonable to me.

Is anyone as elite as Jax going to choose the Mich coaching staff over the staffs at PSU, OSU, and tOSU? I just find that hard to believe. His NIL offer would have to be 2x or 3x other schools to get him there.

The unintended consequences of hiring a team of transfers through NIL is that it gives an impression to everyone (including HS kids and parents) that the coaching staff isn't getting it done. I'm looking at you Michigan and Iowa.

PSU and anOSU recruited Micic.

And the CKLV coach is an all-timer, 6 gold medals and former national coach for USA, Russia, and Japan.

If I had World/Olympic aspirations, I'd take Beloglazov over everyone but Cael.

I think you should check the Cliff Keen RTC coaching staff and revisit this statement.

If the CKLV and Beloglazov are so great, why does Michigan lag behind to the point that they need so many transfers? What were the CKLV results at WTTs? OTTs? NCAAs? Compared or non-compared to NLWC and PSU?

This - if it's one thing to give Michigan kudos for is their investment in their RTC.

Listen, I agree that the CKLV is a well run and successful organization, but there is another program and RTC with much greater success. Why would anyone looking to reach the pinnacle not go in that direction other than money. of course there will be guys who gravitate to specific coaches, but CKLV in the past couple years hasn't produced anywhere near as well as the NLWC.

Bo wants to change a program around how about Bo and Jax to North Carolina that would be awesome. Somebody needs to kick start these ACC schools lol. That leaves us with blaze

When you get done regurgitating the same response to multiple posters, try reading what I said about choosing between Cael or Beloglazov.

I keep seeing people talk down on Michigan coaching but they had a world champ in 2023 in Micic, who was one of the favorites to win Olympics until he got injured. Another multiple time Olympic/world bronze medalist in Amine. Both never won an NCAA title but had legendary careers in NCAA. Last year they got two transfers to the national finals when neither had ever made it that far before, Ragusin made a huge jump last year and finished fifth. Lemley had an amazing season as a true freshman. Beau Mantanona looks like the real deal and has four years as their 165/174. I get people don't like their mass transfer strategy but it is not like they can't coach

CKLV's three best wrestlers don't compete for Team USA. But Amine would be right there with Brooks, Taylor, and Zahid at 86. Micic would be right there with Spencer at 57 and Gomez beat Nick Lee at Pan Ams to make the Olympics and Nick Lee was 2nd at OTT.

Also fans confuse their desires with the athletes' goals.

Most fans want to win college titles. Period.
The truly elite athletes want to win world and Olympic titles. College titles are nice but a milestone, not the real goal.

Micic has more gold medals than the entire Hawkeye Wrestling Club roster combined.

Parris and Coon have both won multiple USA Trials, and Pantaleo and Dieringer have both been top 5 internationally.

Right now, I see Michigan as our top competition when it comes to attracting the world-beating talent that has defined the Cael dynasty. They may be a somewhat distant 2nd, but they are definitely 2nd, IMO. Cornell may be 3rd right now.

DT's squad may get there sooner than later, but it has always been the RTC that attracts these guys. Not long ago, I would have said Ohio State, but maaan did us getting Snyder change that dynamic.

Spencer was a real outlier--Iowa's got nuthin' IMO on that front (today).
