Penn State - Michigan Dual Thread

Sorry if already answered, but is Robbie gonna get another match?
They haven't said anything about that. At least that I've heard. Edsell wrestling now. Up. 2-0. The Michigan announcer just said this is the last match of the day ... So unless Howard gets a match in the parking lot against an Uber driver, it doesn't look like it.

I mean they're not in the corner or on the mat. They're in the stands cheering on their kids in big matches. Hell, you see non parents showing that passion at every home Iowa and Penn State dual. You can't back out of bounds in either arena without being showered with boos and stall calls from the stands, and I think that's great. I don't think this is really fair.
Maybe your right, Maybe they are just like PSU parents during the Cael years....I don't dislike them, I do get it. I just get that feeling over the years when that loud parent at my sons wrestling matches went over the line many times and I felt embarrassed for the school and the kids. He was a nice guy otherwise ironically...lol

Come on, man. Nevills is like a 3 or 4 time CA state champ and is quite good (arguably top 10). He was just overmatched. He was even close on a TD or 2 on a top two guy at the weight.
Intelligent takes like this one are so refreshing and all too rare on the forums. Thank you.

After all the exhibition matches, you can see the stands, which are filled with all kinds of cardboard cut out "people". Someone should thank the fake crowd sometime for cheering him on to victory. Or run up in the stands and hug a cut out figure. Or at least jump up and high five one. I could see V. Joseph doing that. He's got a good sense of humor.

Bartlett wrestling @49 is very interesting (especially wrestling @49 after completing 4 matches @41)... Sure does look like we'll see him @49 now that he has the 4 required @41. Looks like NL and BB still may be in the line-up come B1Gs....

They're parents. Whatever. Zero effect on the match, unless the competitors are unfocused.

Besides, the Amines are the warmup act. In a couple weeks we get Robin Ficker, whose attire and voice are so loud he can be heard even if not in the arena.
And as I recall Ficker is a lawyer. Figures.

It was fun watching Zain pound MaAmine again, but I didn’t see the father doing anything wrong at all?

He’s the only dude in the gym harassing the ref, holding up two, when Zain is sprawled out on top of Malik. If anything, Zain had an advantage, but Amine Sr. is losing his mind on the sidelines.

Rumor has it Kerk is beating Anthony in the room..,.
Seeing is believing.
The Spyker/Nico joke is now on its 5th year. Which means it's outlived its usefulness by 4.5 years and counting.

And no, this year isn't a free year for that joke.

We need some fresh material -- somebody get Tan Tom on the tweeter, stat.

Does Ficker still do his heckling gig at Maryland home wrestling meets? Pretty sure he moved on from heckling at basketball games a while ago.

Just watch the Zain vs Malik Amine match from a couple seasons back.

The dad is a jackass.

I believe that Malik Amine was doing play-by-play for the UM-PSU exhibition matches on BTN+. Overall was pretty good IMO, except every shot attempt (even half-hearted one) was a "good shot". But was far better than a lot I've heard on BTN+.

Hes made the papers down here because he is going to run for Congress. He has had at least 1 fundraiser during the shutdown and got the restaurant/bar/establishment in trouble.

He has been vocal against the school and county closure.

I will always remember the year in philly where he had the blue bed pants with ducks on and work boots yell the headlock sheptock and spen-cer mey-ers to an empty philly arena. We talked to him after that session and it was such a trip.

MJo still hasn't learned to get off bottom

My buddy actually compared Joe to Micah watching him at the Scuffle last year. Good lord the offense (beat Wentzel 10-3, TFed the AF guy, pinned Connor Flynn who held Cenzo to a decision and beat Mekhi before) but couldn't register a single escape on bottom against Wittlake/Bullard.

I was hopeful that Howard would get an extra match against McHenry. Maybe McHenry is a bit dinged up. I think he tweaked a knee against OSU.

FWIW - I'm not going to name any names, but I know of one PSU parent who you probably don't want to be around when he's watching his son competing. He's a good guy any other time, but he's just super intense when there is competition. We all know of a few coaches who fit the same pattern. The bottom line is that I don't think someone's matside behavior is a good indicator of what they are really like as people. Everyone handles competition differently.
