PSU - ASU Dual Thread

197: #1 Bo Nickal vs. Austyn Harris

Per 1
Bo in on a low single for a TD, and cuts him, 2-1. Then another quick TD as they go OOB with 2:39 left, 4-1. Optional start, but he never lets him go. And then a quick lateral to a pin at 35 sec!

35-3, PSU

285: #4 Anthony Cassar vs. Brady Daniel

Per 1
Cassar in on a blast double for the TD, 2-0. OOB with 2:16 left. Daniel starts to stand but is brought back down. Caesar on the left side is working the right arm. He lets the arm go and after a bit goes left arm to right arm, and tilts him, and gets 4 NF, 7-0. They go OOB with 1:07 left. (Caesar got close to a pin there.) Not much movement from Daniel off the whistle. Finally Daniel is up, ad Cassar cuts him, 6-1. 30 sec left. Daniel shoots, nothing, tries to spin behind, nothing. End.

Per 2
Caesar takes bottom. He's out in a few sec, 7-1. Cassar gets a low ankle to a single, spins and gets the TD, 9-1. Stall warning on Daniel. Caesar cuts him, 9-2. Cassar with a quick TD, 11-2 (snapped the head down and spun behind). End. RT @ 3:11 for Cassar.

Per 3
Daniel takes neutral. Caesar with a blast double for the TD, and gets the fall @ 5:18!!!!!!

Final, 41-3, PSU

2nd half thoughts:

165: Cenzo does something I believe only one other wrestler has done and that’s get bonus on shields. I think he completely dominated this match from start to finish and looked fresh at the end of the match. You can tell he wants #3.

174. What a match by Hall. Excellent hand fighting and tying up Valencia’s left hand to keep him from getting to that single. Great timing feeding him the hips to counter his shot to turn it into his own points. You can tell Hall for sure worked on top this offseason, awesome ride.

184: Hard to wrestle a kid that balls up, but Shak kept working and got some stall calls. Didn’t give up a point, worked the whole match, finished his shots, what more can you ask for. Shak may have to work on some set ups for that cradle, that’s what everyone is planning on defending now.

197: I blinked

HWT: Really want to see Cassar and Gable go, and I wish it would happen before BIGs but I don’t think they cross paths. Light and quick on his feet, tough on top. If he keeps this attack rate up all season he will contend for sure.

Mark Hall interview:

Talk a little bit about the improvements you've made on the mat.
- I just wrestled hard through all positions. I had a game plan, as well as a vision of what I wanted. I gutted it out.

About 40 sec into the 3rd you brought him back to the mat and he seemed to lose something
- I had the right mentality on top. I was trying to turn him. Scoring points mentality really helped me. It's hard to just ride, and easier if you're going for points.

Take me through the TD if you could
- he was in on a left-handed single leg, which is his go-to move. Last year I draped over the top, and he picked up the leg. I kept my hips down this year, and got his leg and lifted it.

Talk about this team, as even by PSU standards this is pretty amazing
- you can see the wrestlers (opposition) fading when they come in here. Ohio State last year. They say they have it, but they come in here and it's different. We have a good team, and an awesome crowd. Wrestling in Rec Hall is an awesome experience

Just curious to know from you guys who are there. How was the ASU coaching behavior? I've seen Pritts get into the face of an opposing coach, and I have a friend who said Zeke really annoyed him after an ASU wrestler lost in the last second. I don't think that is their usual way of behaving but they do get spooled up sometimes.
