Southern Scuffle Thread

No, and he's not the starter for OSU.

Yeah I know that Crutchmer's their guy, I'm just trying to get an idea of how good Rogers is. I saw he's beaten Boyd in the past at this same tourney, so he's respectable at least. This next match with Kent will tell a lot

I want to bring back the GIANT mat that Iowa used to have, or was it Pokes? Anyway the GIANT mat in the 70's was awesome.
That was Iowa when Gary Kurdelmeier was the head coach. Story is those Oklahoma wrestlers used to retreat to the edge and wrestle from there, so he had a mat designed just for that issue. I think it was 70 feet across.
The NCAA eventually decided there needed to be some uniformity.

Somewhere there are clips from that match....I'd pay good money to find those clips haha.

Stout lost .... looked like he had some angles in the 3rd period but didn't take advantage of them...

That new mat is bad for wrestling! I've got the Resilite guys on the phone as we speak.
It reminds me of old rock bands with two drummers - just because you can do something, doesn't make it a good idea.
My 18 year old loves it. Must be an age thing. ;)

He beat Boyd 2x last year in the early-season opens. Boyd beat him 12-2 at the Scuffle.

Among his other matches last year: 17-2 TF 4:11 loss to Brooks; 16-6 MD loss to Dean; 24-10 MD loss to Lorenzo Thomas. Lost 2 matches at 197 (Rotert 15-10, Pfarr 16-5). Had 2 wins over national qualifiers (WBF over Heino, Campbell; 13-4 over Krohn, Stanford) -- but those 2 guys went a combined 1-4 at MSG.

I don't remember if he was hurt or just lost the job to Boyd, but the Scuffle was his last action of 2016.

Watched it, they had the names/colors reversed on the scoreboard, Stout lost
Yes, Stout lost. Got taken down and rode for a while in the 1st. After that it was a whole lot of nothing. Stout moved Mattiace around well when they were on their feet, but I can't remember him attempting to score. Neither did Mattiace, but he had the lead.

He eventually just lost it, never really panned out to be what they recruited him for

Once -- Mouse last year, with his back injury. That's it.

Dept of Poetic Justice: Stallalonga went 0-2 at nationals twice.
Thanks.
Thought the 3 weights zero points, based upon history seemed more than a little far fetched.

Absolutely. The only way that happens is if guys don't qualify for nationals -- barring injury, we have 10 national qualifiers.

Then again, (1) some posters specialize in hyperbole; (2) it was yet another post that I'd love to see someone say to the wrestlers' faces.

Need to suspend the rule that says there are no stupid questions just stupid people asking questions. Who is stallalonga

Thank you El Jefe, that's what I was looking for. I searched track and found some stuff, but nowhere near the depth you just gave. Appreciate it

Now guys, just because the kid never initiated an offensive attack with a forward movement and kinda preferred to wrestle neutral with at least one foot OOB we are being mean about the stalling. Not engaging was just his style.;)
