Southern Scuffle Thread

I just looked at the team scores. Lehigh is leading Ok State by 1 point. I don't expect that to last, but it's good to see the Cowboys get some competition.

That new mat is bad for wrestling! I've got the Resilite guys on the phone as we speak.
It reminds me of old rock bands with two drummers - just because you can do something, doesn't make it a good idea.

Not thrilled about Resilite's Fall '17 plans.

Now guys, just because the kid never initiated an offensive attack with a forward movement and kinda preferred to wrestle neutral with at least one foot OOB we are being mean about the stalling. Not engaging was just his style.;)

What's the BWI consensus on Jesse Delgado's style? Not being snarky, just curious.

Probably not consensus, but I saw a guy who attacked against lesser competition, and against better competition backpedaled to bait guys into shots he could counter with the ankle dive.

Here's how I saw the finals matchup between Delgado and Megaludis: Nico seemed stronger and a better hand fighter with terrific defense, maybe even a more natural wrestler, but Jesse capitalized on a crucial mistake by Nico and gutted out the victory.

Once -- Mouse last year, with his back injury. That's it.

Dept of Poetic Justice: Stallalonga went 0-2 at nationals twice.

Thanks.
Thought the 3 weights zero points, based upon history seemed more than a little far fetched.

In 7 years;
59 Qualifiers
Record of 204-84 (71%)
Bonus point wins = 85 (30%)
1 wrestler went 0-2 (2%)
49 of 59 (83%) won at least 1 match in the Championship Bracket.

Sure looks to me like everyone contributes. Odds are very strong that no one will go 0-2.

Man, it's funny how two people can see the same thing through two completely different lenses, you know?
Yep, that's what's great are the subjective arguments, can't argue if he was a NCAA champ but we can argue if he was exciting or happy to squeak out matches with one takedown. Great wrestler just not one I enjoyed a lot. Plus the fact that twice the pokes benefited from two non calls on pins against them at the NCAA (Hendricks and Perry)makes me pick on them more than others

I agree, the subjective arguments are great. That's why I don't care for the CFB play-offs. I enjoyed the back-and-forth when the AP and the Coaches Poll picked different champs, lol

There's something I can agree with. I am old and don't always adjust well to the new. I like the college bowl games prior to playoff system, in addition not a fan of corporate sponsorship. Seems like they don't even call them the cotton , sugar and rose bowl

I don't think Delgado could win the NC under the new rules instituted after 2014 season.

Wrestling on the edge and riding below the waist ... er ... hanging on the ankles ... were staples in his style.

I think he absolutely could win under the new rules. The thing that was so aggravating about his stalling (which didn't really develop until his junior season) is that he was too talented to resort to that tactic. It was a total waste of an exciting, dynamic wrestler. The new rules likely would have forced the old Delgado to return.

Quarters start yet ?

Can not speak for other's, just myself. Delgado's funk was irritating because it impacted Nico, but he would use it to wrestle trying to score.
My problem with Delgado is his top ride was drop to the side and ride what I called a Delgado tight leg ride and when in trouble he would hang looking for a stalemate. The top wrestling was a stall, as a matter of fact his ride is now by definition a stall.
His funk, frustrating but not something I would automatically scream stall.

I could have sworn I posted Lizak is developing into a tough assed 125 pounder.

I really wish the FloArena gave you a summary of the scoring like TrackWrestling does. TrackWrestling is superior because of it.

Anyone finding their video to be a period or so behind. Worked fine this afternoon.

Gotta pick top or wrestle on your feet with Lizak...Watched him for years....Do not take bottom...Nick better know that too....Someone must tell him to wrestle him on feet or top....

Brock crushed his opponent, very aggressive. heil beat thorn on riding time 2-1 and didn't take a shot the whole match that I could see

Similar to earlier, the 720p stream is minutes behind live; the 480p stream is live though.

Mark Hall in the hole on mat 3.

And JoJo definitely does not look like a world beater so far this year. I don't think anybody keeps it close with Jason. It's a Jason and then the battle for 2nd place.

Joe Smith has some amazing leg defense but did nothing but stall his way through Mitch Finesilver.

Smith looked exhausted at the end, could hardly stand to get his hand raised. Just back, so that explains a lot...plenty of time to get in shape.
Gets Short/Atkinson winner next. (EDIT: Atkinson won)
