Nothing to be ashamed of, they showed that they are right there with them. I'd definitely take Hall in a rematch anywhere but Carver.
As for for the rest of the guys:
Meredith- Not supposed to be in there and saved a team point against the #1 guy
RBY- Took a huge step forward. Even w/o the default he was all over him
Verk/Pipher- Both wrestled smart and limited the damage
Cenzo- Got the monkey off his back, will win more decisively next time
Hall- See above
Brooks- Ice in his veins to do that at Carver as a true freshmen
Shak- Obviously not ready yet but is taking one for the team, nothing but respect for him
Nevills- Tough loss. Could have been a much different match if he finished that TD in the first.

I don’t get how you can predict who will win when you have two wrestlers ranked that close. But someone gets paid to do it.

I feel bad for Maryland's 174 on Sunday. That match for Hall might be the worst thing for everyone else at the weight class, including Kem, going forward. Mark is going to go on a war path.
Not saying he would have won, just clarifying where the 9 point swing came from. In my opinion, I dont think RBY gets a fall over a healthy Desanto. A win for RBY is obviously not out of the question. Even a 4 point major and a non Iowa point deduction, make the dual score 20-15. Still comes down to the last match. Gonna be fun in March...

Exactly. I would've put money on Bull winning at home (I very much like his chances at BIGs and nationals) and Hall all day vs. Kem, but that's why they wrestle them. You guys brought it tonight and deserve props.
Here's a corrective to your hyperbole and a more accurate view of things: Iowa has 10 guys in the top 10. Penn State has no one ranked at 3 weights and lost a National Champ at 285 due to injury this season as well as being without a top 5 guy at 157 and Iowa only wins by 2 on the very last match. I bet you were peeing your pants until and during the last match of the night.
Desanto obviously wasn't healthy when RBY locked up that first cradle, doubt the ref would have stopped it otherwise. I would have defaulted then but Desanto obviously wasn't the same going forward. I don't want to discount RBYs win, just don't see a pin of healthy Desanto.
Post match reactions reminds me of why I'll never cross over to other forums for the most part.

Absolutely and cheering for RBY and Lee. Add in the adrenaline dump from the big first period throw. Kem was great but I think Marky gets him in March

DeSanto doesn't think. He just acts and reacts. So I bet he didn't even realize that if he called for injury time again he loses by default. He is more concerned about his ego than anything else. He's clearly quite immature emotionally.

Whether he is hurt or not is to be determined. It appears Brands isn't sold on it. He pointed to his head, as if it was mental. At the press conference, Brands says that he thinks Desanto maybe could have finished the match. Not saying he isn't hurt, but Brands doesn't necessarily believe he should have fft. At 5:30 mark.
I hadn't seen that. If he isn't hurt then I eat my words. I doubt we see him until big 10s personally. Either way RBY shows he's a title contender. We'll see vs Gross soon.

Kem may or may not beat Hall again. I, for one, feel even more confident about Marinelli vs Joseph moving forward. I feel he forced the issue with the body lock and got burned for 6. He won the rest of the exchanges going forward. I understand that Joseph was probably playing defense afterwards, but Alex has more offensive scores in the last 2 matches. They are closer than lots of PSU fans want to admit...
He was about to get pinned in front of his home crowd to a guy he beat before with all the marbles on the table. Twice.
The ability to yell "stop, stop, it hurts" did keep him from getting stuck. Nothing in the tonight's DeSanto RBY match indicated Iowa was getting anything at 133 other than beat.
For any refs out there why didn't RBY get two back points after both times he had the cradle locked up and was turning AD? Below is the language from the rule book.
Art. 7. Injury — Imminent Near Fall. When a pinning combination is executed legally by the offensive wrestler and a near fall is imminent, but the defensive wrestler is injured, indicates an injury or has excessive bleeding before a near-fall criterion is met, action will be stopped and a two-point near fall shall be awarded to the offensive wrestler.

I remember Zahid coming across the country and getting worked by Mark last year. Things were different in March. I wouldn't take much away from this loss. Kemerer is very good. Mark will see him again.
I'd say this is pretty damn accurate. Their board shows they were worried. They're also calling RBY dirty which is total bs. RBY simply pulled a leg out for a cradle. And they're supposed to be educated in wrestling? As far as Mark goes. I've never seen him look like that. Even when he lost to Zahid, Zahid had to work his ass off to get takedowns. Props to Kem, but that was the strangest match I've seen Mark wrestle. As far as refs, as I stated during the match. They're just awful and goes for both teams. I used to not know what a takedown was. Now, I have no idea what stalling is. The call against Kem was ridiculous as well.
