Agree on some points, but Kem stalled and went all ankle grab, and on a neutral mat, he gets hit with no less than 3 stall calls.
He gassed. You could see it on his face and his legs were crossing. In the second period. If you couldn't see it you don't have the ability to be objective. Clearly better than his opponent on his feet until then.

I am being objective. Did not gas. Didn't gas at Nebraska either. Do guys who hit blast doubles with 25 seconds left to seal wins, "gas"?
Since that is exactly what happened that night I would have to say ..... Yes, it can happen. He has electric stuff and a wide variety of shots, could be adrenaline dump, could be a number of things. He goes from being very aggressive to no shots at all and stumbling on the mat. We simply disagree. He'll figure it out either way, I like where he's at.
I agree. Gunther tied up Cenzo and hung on his head for two periods. Even the commentators mentioned that he really didn't attempt a shot. He was getting picked apart in the first period. You saw what his answer to that was in the second and third period.
I would think (and hope) they are celebrating. Cael finally made the decision they have been hoping for, and I have no reason to question it.
The folks who were talking about the redshirt burned, in the end, are the same as the people who were talking against the redshirt being burned. At the end of the day we are all Penn State Wrestling Fans. Period.
No "bragging" no "boasting", no nothing. Just informed thoughts and opinions on a message board, while at the same time supporting ALL of our wrestlers, and wanting what is best for the whole, rather than the sum of the parts. In return, nobody needs to be all salty about it either, because of the upset, and IT WAS AN UPSET, that happened in HIS FIRST EVER MATCH AT CARVER HAWKEYE AGAINST AN ALL AMERICAN SENIOR.
And Imar can take his smack talk and shove it where the sun dont shine...he is very good, but he aint on the level of Schalles, or Cael, or Gable, or Schultz. Cael looks at everything from the long-term perspective of winning conference and national titles. Giving Mark the experience of wrestling in Carver is probably a positive development from that perspective.
If it makes you feel any better, they very well may shut Iowa out next year.
Overall I do agree with your sentiment, would of enjoyed some more overkill. The gap between these two teams is actually bigger in a tournament setting at a neutral venue.

Address it over there...You forgot to add that I said Gilman didn't take any second period shots and coasted at the end. What do you think coasting means? Didn't do anything.
It's a series of adjustments. Think of it like a baseball pitcher and a batter...you do this, this time, I do that, the next time. One guy gets the best of another guy, the other guy rewrites the book. Today Sorenson made the adjustment, ball now in Zain's court. Tonight Suriano learned what it takes, now the work in the room to make the adjustments to make that happen. You saw it last year with Imar and Nolf. Nolf gets him, then Imar and his coach take lungers and wave red flags to make the match last a half hour, then finally a legit match in which Imar wins with a granby type roll with 2 seconds left, and finally a shrug with 10 seconds left. That's how it goes.
Az, when should I come over to rehash the Bo better not go for big moves with Brooks discussion? What's the proper waiting time?
Maybe Brooks should have went upper body cause going lower didn't work out too well for him tonight
The proper tactic vs Bo is the Myles Martin method: Have Bo slip on a throw, catch him, then run like hell for 3 minutes and 35 seconds. So far, that's the only tactic that works.
When it's this far into the season, you can't really ease him into it. I have no problem with the decision, and think it will work to his benefit.

I could care less how good of a wrestler he is, I am more interested in what type of person you are. Mike Tyson was an animal in the ring and outside the ring. I was not a fan of his either. More of a fan of Holyfield type fighter. A humble person who lets their actions in the ring(or on the mat) do the talking.
I have two sons that wrestle in PA, one of them is very exceptional. Sure it makes me proud, but I am way more proud of his attitude and humbleness.

I agree with everything but the explicitives lol. Gilman earned that win tonight by taking down Suriano early. You get the benefit of being able to stall late by taking down your opponent in the 1st period. Same goes if Suriano got the take down in the first.
Still not like him to coast in the third period when he initiated much of the action in the match. I was actually more disappointed by the second period. Suriano is a good hand fighter and didn't worry Gilman too much on any shots but that was the time for a senior to show the freshman what's up...and he didn't. This can only help Suriano coming into B1Gs and NCAAs because now he knows he can hang with Gilman, now it's just a matter of figuring out a way to get in on him and score.
I usually agree with trying to finish that dual not on the defensive end of things, but if you're in that situation and there's really no chance of bonus points or really anything good to come of it why would you risk the other guy getting a take down. There's hard fought wrestling that he did in the first couple periods, but then there's also smart wrestling that Gilman did once he got the escape. I don't like stalling, but in that situation nothing good could come from going at the guy. If you get a takedown you beat him by a couple more points, but if you get in a scramble situation and that guy gets the takedown things go sour. I guess I just look at things differently than most people. I love when wrestlers wrestle all 7, but sometimes there are times when you got to wrestle smart. Also Gilman has shown he wrestles all 7 most of his matches, so him backing off in the third I think shows he was wrestling with his brain in the end. What a great match it was though.

Times have really changed. PSU just demolished Iowa 26-11 in CHA and the Hawkeye fans are crowing with joy and the PSU faithful is frustrated. ( 3) 5/th year seniors for Iowa won against two true freshman and a backup. The expectations for the 2 programs have certainly changed. The sad thing is the gap only widens from here.
We learned tonight that they are who some thought they are- not a title threat team. Time to move on and find out if tOSU is a title threat or not. OSU might be the only real threat.

About what I expected in Suriano-Gilman I....low scoring, but Gilman pretty much controlled the match with the early TD. Suriano looked pretty good from bottom which tells me he's going to make the semi-finals and is very positive. Needs a better more dynamic neutral offense if he's going to beat Gilman (or Dance for that matter).
I don't post over there, and I'm not going to start. Nothing good can come from that. Since you do post here, I thought I'd bring it up here. It just sounded to me like you were more critical of our guy at 65 than your guy at 25, when really the same thing could be said about both wrestlers.
And, yes, I didn't give you credit for mentioning Gilman not doing anything in the 2nd. But, you also didn't give me credit for saying you are normally better than that.

I get the frustration but it was obvious that second call was going to happen as soon as you saw how much time was left in the period after the first call.
It's CHA. Things happen there and it's a tough place to win. We had some tough and sometimes ugly matches. Very ugly. But in the end......
A couple of youngsters learned a few good things. One seasoned guy finally had a long match and learned some things and.....
We bombed Iowa in their arena!
