Football Michigan defeats Penn State, 24-15

With 29 seconds left in the FIRST half, why do you need to make it a 3 point game? What evidence has shown you so far that Michigan is done scoring? Terrible decision.
So if Michigan isn’t done scoring that means we have to keep scoring, so it’s really a non-factor at this point.

2 requests for the 2nd half - no 43 on D and something on O to take advantage of scUM's aggressive D (like scUM already did in the 1st half to PSU's D).

Franklin gets tight shorts in almost every big game. Allar is struggling with pressure but the staff does nothing to help him. Run, run, tough passing situation on 3rd and 6. Where's the quick release pass for 6 yds on 1st down?

Also why go for 2 so early? Now a UM FG puts us down 8.

Allen had that one nice run, but getting run down and tackled by a DT? Embarrassing.

We are overmatched. And going for two at that point is not going to cost us the game.

Reminds me of the time the refs put 2 seconds back on the clock in Ann Arbor. My wife is like WTF, and I'm like it won't matter. Henne to Manningham for the win with 1 second left.................

Allen was fighting through traffic. Kudos to Grant for a hustle play. Otherwise, Allen might have scored.

(Though I think somebody else eventually runs him down)

Come on man, I’m a huge coach Franklin proponent, but that was a stupid, stupid call. You have to acknowledge that. I was screaming it before they went.
I didn’t like the call either, but I would have liked it if we made it. I just don’t think it’s as big a deal as many are making out of it. If we can’t stop their offense from rolling all over us, one point isn’t going to make a difference. I see why he did it and unfortunately it didn’t work. I’m not a big fan of many of the analytics, but coaches that use them follow them pretty religiously.

Team is showing a lot of fight. I guess I'm just a little embarrassed that after 10 years of solid recruiting and Franklin at the helm, we still have to resort to flea flickers and HB passes against Michigan and Ohio State. Its a tepid admission that we can't play with them from a talent or coaching perspective. Probably a discussion for another time....just not what I would have envisioned year 10 under Franklin.

Geeze it’s 14-9 and team is in the game and all people care about is a failed two pint conversation. It was a good half of football and they have a shot.
You're correct, that was a 2 pint conversation attempt.

Absolutely massive drive to start the second half. IMO, it might be the biggest of the season thus far. If you can go get 7 and then the defense turns around to follow that up with a stop, you'll have the momentum and a chance to take control of the game.

I’m enjoying the fight in PSU. Michigan looks like a more versatile, athletic, bigger, and better coached team. But we got the fight fight fight going.

Hopefully we can f*ck up their game in the second half.

Thought the same, but 78 had a head of steam while Allen just finished getting untangled.
I saw that, but I think guys like Singleton or Barkley would have still outrun him. Allen just isn’t the type of back that’s going to burst really long gains.

Please, he wasn't "run down" he escaped a tackle just past the LOS which caused him to stumble for several steps as he went into the open field where the DT grabbed his Jersey and rode him for about 10 yards.

Allar has a lot of development to do but he has made some good decisions to pull it down and run.

The more I think about it the more that 2-point try confirms what I've believed about Franklin. He is no tactician. He plays on momentum and emotion. That sets the identity for the team.

Maybe that 2-point try works and maybe it doesn't. What it actually does is define you.

This has been the difference between OSU/Michigan and PSU during the Franklin era. They are more disciplined and business-like. We are more "let's go have fun" as a family. This can produce wins, like the Grant Haley block/runback win against OSU, but it's not the stuff of dynasties that regularly go to the playoffs. It's a concession that you don't have the personnel.

That's why Allar needed to be running all year if we're going to do it now--so he's used to taking hits.
