You could be right, but I noticed something different with Cenzo last night, he seems to be approaching that Zain/Nolf confidence level.I wouldn't draw any conclusions about "widening the gap" from that match

Maryland has 2 wrestlers, neither wrestles 184. Flicker is generally speaking loud only when a Maryland wrestler is onvolved. Now there's a thought: HOW THE HELL will Downey's dad (PDII, even though I refuse to use those monikers) take the heckling that Ficker is SURE to hand out toward Downey Jr?! Wow, what a thought!
Why can't I get, "Clowney Downey, Clowney Downey, Clowney Downey" out of my head?
He is confident. You could be right, but I noticed something different with Cenzo last night, he seems to be approaching that Zain/Nolf confidence level.
Yes.Despite Coon’s size advantage, I think Snyder has a strength advantage on Coon, not to mention quickness and athletic ability.
Excuse my potential ignorance, but wouldn't greco be about the only style that Coon would have a fighting chance at?
I have talked with Flicker at a NLO and several years ago in the airport, Oklahoma City I think. He is very engaging in a personal conversation.See. He is a douche bag.
That’s a good name for him.
No one else at sporting events behaves like him.
You first wrote “ he’s an entertaining guy.”
No he is not.
Just agree to disagree.
They last longer because they're in slow motion.Don't look now, but there is a women's hoops game on before the Iowa/OSU match tomorrow. Don't they have a tendency to last longer than the men's? God I hate basketball.

As an engineer (OK, now program mgr) in the aerospace industry: if Coon has an NFL itch, he should try it first. If nothing else, the pay is better even in training camp. If he makes the NFL long enough for his engineering skills to atrophy, he can afford grad school as a refresher.Plenty of dudes are 6’5 , 320. Does he have the feet and being away from the Game so long, be a huge project refining that technique needed. May be worth an invite to camp though. Better shot to make it as an engineer, next best shot would be to beat Snyder, then lastly would be the odds of Coon making an NFL roster.
It's not that impressive when you consider Tomasello deadlifts with a VW on each end of the bar.

Unfortunately at Deadlift U, you also get a tan and the inability to get out from bottom.Cael should send Schnupp to summer camp at Deadlift U.
Dept of Redundancy Department alert!Agreed. Just thought it was comical as Gibbons seemed to imply Coon may just decide to play nfl football, I was thinking, Get real!

He is annoying as hell when yelling and acting the buffoon.
I like basketball...pawrestlersintn calls it my bouncing pumpkin fetish...or something like that. Meh re. last evening. I get that wrestling is a tier below basketball overall, and the OT was completely random. Happens, right? How you guys react when something goes really wrong in your lives?
I like Gibbons and prefer his commentary vs the Flo guys screaming "oohhh that was insane!!!" into the mic repeatedly.
I wish they would make this a 225 lb class; let these other guys play some other sport.
Not so sure about that. With such a limit there'd have been no Konrad, Mocco, McMullan, Rey, Fox, Wagner, etc. etc. There were a lot of good, big, and entertaining heavyweights.Agree. You want to make college wrestling better? Getting rid of the dancing bears would be near the top of the list. Changing the 285 lb limit to somewhere in the 225 - 240 lb range would be a real good start.

I've met Fox actually, and he told me that he had to cut to make 285. He's a BIG boy.I thought McMullan was in the sub-250 range, or at least was giving up weight frequently.
But yeah, Konrad was giant. I suspect Mocco could have made 250 if he had to. Same with Fox. Some of these guys had some goo because the strategy was to have more mass -- for years. If they knew in HS that 250 was the limit, I'm sure they could have managed to operate accordingly.
EDIT: I see the previously stated thesis was actually 240 (not 250) -- so maybe a bit tougher for that last 10 lbs.

Yes, Dustin. I ran into him in a bar where I live three years ago or so. He had to cut to make 285; he's a BIG guy. Interestingly, I found this too. Scroll down to his quote at the bottom. http://www.gophersports.com/sports/m-wrestl/spec-rel/030808aac.htmlDustin? Maybe my memory is bad on that one.
I do now recall really feeling for McMullan when he would give it his all against Telford and repeatedly come up short simply because he was giving up so much weight.

From what I've seen, at least there's no chance it goes to OT.They last longer because they're in slow motion.
Always get a chuckle when a HWT says he has to cut. Probably had to skip the pepperoni on his XL pizza.I've met Fox actually, and he told me that he had to cut to make 285. He's a BIG boy.
Gwiz was 255 as a senior ... but very few guys are Gwiz.My 225-240 lb limit was just spit-balling. A 250 lb limit is probably fine. Would make for a much better product IMO.
Edit - IIRC, McMullan was somewhere around 230 or so, but still excellent. I was actually thinking of him when I first suggested a 240 lb limit.

Just a tad sanctimonious on your part, Roar. Some people were upset about missing 125. They're passionate wrestling fans who may have posted in a moment of frustration. Careful getting off that high horse of yours, you might hurt yourself.
I will say that he was a character when I met him. Will always be a fond memory of one of the more entertaining guys that I had a couple of beers with.Gotcha. I did a quick search, too, and found this gem of an article from ESPN: LINK
Talks about him missing the first month of the season to drop 50 lbs to make 285. Also makes reference to him looking like Chris Farley . . . which jogged my failing memory as to why my brother and I had liked Fox back in the day, lol.
Robin Ficker may be a swell and engaging guy in normal life, but his antics at sporting events are obnoxious and extremely annoying. And since his antics can spoil the experience for nearby fans, he is also inconsiderate. All in all, pretty much the opposite of "entertaining".
I might add though, that a good part of the reason why he didn't shake was that he was actually pretty darned solid. Chiseled, no, but he was pretty solid.Always get a chuckle when a HWT says he has to cut. Probably had to skip the pepperoni on his XL pizza.
Fox didn't shake when he moved but also not exactly chiseled. He could've made a lower limit -- maybe not 250, but he could've made something lower than 285.
My take as well. BTW, he was noticeably absent from duals at MD that I have watched on BTN Plus so maybe he doesn't go any more for some reason. Will know on 1/21 as I will be at the Maryland dual, along with at least 4 other family members.
Why did they miss 125? I didn't as it was on BTN2GO.
