Match Thread Iowa dual thread - Jan 31

I'm with you I don't care if he talked shit in the end I'm just saying if he talked shit to get a ride out of fans which I think he did then there shouldn't be a surprise that people have something to say. He will have to face Carter sooner or later unless Angelo is now the starter. It looks like he is clearly better than Gabe from what I see and his length will be an advantage I have no idea Ferrari was that tall
Need to shirt Ferrari and let it clear out.
No brainer.

Levi lost his major at the last second and doubt Davis would have been teched. So 31-6 or 30-8. Doesn’t matter. That’s a real drubbing. I think Iowa had 2 TD’s outside of Ayala vs. a backup. Total riding time was ugly. Close to 20 minutes for the Nits. That was a beat down. The gap between the two programs is a real chasm.
Minus Ayala, Parco had 1 and Buchanan had 1.

I know that's what you are saying but really. Gabe isn't a teenager and he knew exactly what he was doing. Some guys talk shit and never back it up that appears to be Gabe unless he can prove otherwise and if brands didn't wrestle him after he talked shit then that tells a whole other story lmfao.
We all like to throw shade at Gabe, myself included. But this is on the coaching staff. I'm certain Gabe would have went, if allowed. And probably a similar match happens.

That being said, it's still not a good look. For both Gabe and TNT.

Davis didn’t call out Ayala did he?

Arnold a chicken shit. Ferrari way better
Agree Gabe needs to keep his mouth shut. Pretty dumb calling out a 4 timer number one pfp wrestler.
He had no say on the decision. Just like Davis.

My Thoughts:
* Overall, I think the Iowa wrestlers put forth a good effort.
* I think the biggest separation was late 2nd and 3rd period. PSU dominated then
* I would have loved to see Barr ride for 10 seconds and see what happens, but Buchanan earned it.
* Ferrari is the real deal.
* After watching Arnold's interview with Chael Sonnen, I thought he was well spoken and pretty cool.
* I am really glad PSU won, but I wish some fans would show as much class as the wrestlers do after the match.

God I hate Iowa!! What a dual! Unbelievable team

LL has a great feel he’s athletically superior to most everyone. The more he initiates, the better. The close matches will eventually be a thing of the past. I think people kind of have the wrong assessment on Bartlett and his wrestling tactics, but everything they say about Beau actually rings true for Lilledahl.

Bartlett did his job. Nothing flashy, and never really worried with him. He does a few things really well, but just doesn’t have the body type to dominate. And for the “why doesn’t he shoot more” crowd, I think you should take a closer look at this match. Put himself out of position a couple of times, and against a better wrestler, it might cost him. Still plenty good enough and talented enough to win a title. Just need to let him wrestle his own style.

SVN will give up some takedowns, but as long as he stays on his offense, it shouldn’t be a problem. A little concerned how easily Lovett and Parco finished takedowns, but did a better job on Parco’s second opportunity. Really fun to watch.

Kasak is a beast. Strong, great reflexes. Does he have a long wingspan or something? I don’t understand how he makes takedown finishes look so effortless.

MM is an unreal talent. Shame how he’s not gonna be chasing Cael, but he might be every bit as dominant.

Agreed, great sportsmanship on both sides. Gracious in winning and losing.
These kids are all the cream of the crop in character.
Compare their integrity to bb or fb games.
Not even close, this is an actual combat sport too.

Haines is just almost impossible to score on and had a beautiful shot when he needed it. I think we are all glad to see him not having to cut a bunch of weight and y’all can thank me for being the first to suggest the bump to 174 (and Kasak to 157). Cael obviously reads the boards.

Carter got a little conservative when he got to the leg in the 3rd, but I don’t mind it. No reason to risk it. Just a vet move and workmanlike win. Angelo wrestled how he had to, and it wasn’t very fun to watch, but unfortunately he is gonna be an amazing wrestler for them. LOL at Gabe Orange.

Obviously still very optimistic about Barr. Didn’t really show anything new this match, but I think he takes care of Cardenas next week. Just a hunch.

Kerk looked much better than he did against Rutgers and I’m glad he appears to be over whatever ailment was keeping him off the mat.

Match of the night for those who couldn’t watch.

Ferrari wrestled well. He’s very good defensively.

I would say Teemer v Kasak was better.

Starocci just stalked Ferrari who backed off the edge. Thought it was a pretty boring match
Teemer vs. Kasak was better. So was SVN vs. Parco. And MM is always must see tv.

Few match notes:

The more I think about it, I think it was Iowa's plan to wrestle Angelo for a while. I think Gabe running his mouth was his way of trying to get TnT to let him wrestle. It was a bold strategy that obviously didn't work out for him. But if my thinking is correct, I give him props for at least trying to wrestle.

Barr vs Buchanan - I thought we would see way more attacks from Barr. If memory serves me, his only real attacks were late in the third and were more desperation than calculated set ups and attacks. Maybe the game plan was to let Buchanan attack and wear himself out, then capitalize at the end? I like that Barr has the potential to see him three more times. I don't like the fact that Barr was close to scoring a takedown, but I trust adjustments will be made. I see no reason why Barr can not beat him.

Starocci vs Ferrari - Iowa has a good one. I think he'll be a multiple time champ. If Iowa can keep him, and he doesn't do anything stupid, they'll be happy. I thought Ferrari was doing enough to stay away from the stall calls. If he would have circled, he definitely avoids them. Starocci in on a leg a few times and doesn't finish I think had more to do with being on the edge more than anything, but as you can see, Ferrari is extremely hard to take down. Will be interesting to see who gets the nod for Iowa in the post season. If I'm TnT, I'm letting 84 clear out some.

Kasak vs Teemer - What a masterful performance by Kasak. Teemer relies a good bit on counter wrestling and Kasak was able to finish quickly which took all that away.

SVN vs Parco - I'm not saying the match vs Lovett was a fluke, because Lovett is damn good, but so is SVN. SVN has an insane pace, strength, and positioning.

All in all, with that showing tonight. it would not surprise me at all to have 9/10 AA. It also wouldn't surprise me to see 9-10 guys in the semis. Only one I'm questioning right now is Davis. No clue if he's sick, injured, etc. All in all, its a great day to be a PSU fan.

We Are!

Im back after checking GIA again 😂

My bad Madden. It's more like 80 percent.

Iowa lost 30-8 to Penn State because of two stall calls on Ferrari

Sandusky...EIGHT MORE POSTS

Steroids, three times

Penn State stalls and gets away with it, four more times

Cael gives them drugs, five times

Don't worry, DT will steal their recruits, twice

MSU158 hits the like button for literally all of those 😂

Sore losers over there at GIA 😂

In terms of entertainment;
Mitchell Mesenbrink > Nolf?
Not quite yet, but, getting there.
That's a really tough call. I think Nolf is more inventive and went for turns a lot more. But no doubt Mitchell is an F5 tornado through a trailer park from neutral. Anybody who tech falls the field while averaging over 18 points a match is damn impressive.
