Few match notes:
The more I think about it, I think it was Iowa's plan to wrestle Angelo for a while. I think Gabe running his mouth was his way of trying to get TnT to let him wrestle. It was a bold strategy that obviously didn't work out for him. But if my thinking is correct, I give him props for at least trying to wrestle.
Barr vs Buchanan - I thought we would see way more attacks from Barr. If memory serves me, his only real attacks were late in the third and were more desperation than calculated set ups and attacks. Maybe the game plan was to let Buchanan attack and wear himself out, then capitalize at the end? I like that Barr has the potential to see him three more times. I don't like the fact that Barr was close to scoring a takedown, but I trust adjustments will be made. I see no reason why Barr can not beat him.
Starocci vs Ferrari - Iowa has a good one. I think he'll be a multiple time champ. If Iowa can keep him, and he doesn't do anything stupid, they'll be happy. I thought Ferrari was doing enough to stay away from the stall calls. If he would have circled, he definitely avoids them. Starocci in on a leg a few times and doesn't finish I think had more to do with being on the edge more than anything, but as you can see, Ferrari is extremely hard to take down. Will be interesting to see who gets the nod for Iowa in the post season. If I'm TnT, I'm letting 84 clear out some.
Kasak vs Teemer - What a masterful performance by Kasak. Teemer relies a good bit on counter wrestling and Kasak was able to finish quickly which took all that away.
SVN vs Parco - I'm not saying the match vs Lovett was a fluke, because Lovett is damn good, but so is SVN. SVN has an insane pace, strength, and positioning.
All in all, with that showing tonight. it would not surprise me at all to have 9/10 AA. It also wouldn't surprise me to see 9-10 guys in the semis. Only one I'm questioning right now is Davis. No clue if he's sick, injured, etc. All in all, its a great day to be a PSU fan.
We Are!
